Like a hot stock, Indiana's 2009 basketball recruiting class surged today as analysts reacted to the Hoosiers' verbal commitment from prized prospect Christian Watford. Rivals.com ranked IU's class No. 4 -- five spots higher than before Watford committed. Another analyst, Bob Gibbons, said that might be too low. He put the Hoosiers on par with No. 1 North Carolina.

Well hopefully this is IU being rewarded for cleaning house and getting a reputable AD staff.

Verbal commitment means nothing...write an article when the kid actually enrolls...

What happened to Sampson? He was a good coach with a good reputation at working the phones!

Crean was a great recruiter at Marquette, but was consistently out coached and looked lost during games. He may have the best recruiting class in the Big Ten, but he is by far the worst coach.

This is a great step for the Hoosiers in getting back to the top of the Big Ten with class!

As long as you have Bruce Weber in your conference, you are never the worst coach in your conference.

yeah with taking care of the backcourt with the '08 Class and taking care of the frontline in the '09 Class. In the '10 and '11 Classes we will be going after Top-Tier Athlete's.

You should always be able to recruit in Indiana look at all the talent...Oden, Connely jr. etc.. The state is full of basketball players. The trick is to keep them at IU. Cream should be able to recruit including going out of state.

Watford is from Alabama for reference(I live close by the town of the school), not Indiana. While Oden and Connelley are from Indiana. Its the school not the state. Great school for recruiting and I love watching them play.
