Patriots quarterback Tom Brady suffered torn anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments in his left knee last Sunday, NFL sources confirmed yesterday. Without any setbacks or unexpected complications, Brady will be ready to return to the field next preseason. Quarterbacks typically respond well after ACL surgery, in time regaining the muscle strength and agility to perform as effectively as before the injury.

He should be ready, especially since he plants off his right leg to throw and not his left. Also, he's a pocket-passer, so it's not like he'll be sliding around the pocket or moving outside of the pocket too much.

It's all going to depend on how he heals.

Go Cowboys.

Well get better soon, Pats will see you next year. For now Cassel have to get ready for the Jets as long as he makes no mistakes we should be fine. Shrot passing and the dump off game should be fine with Cassel, Pats need to depending more on the run game. Defense needs to step up big this year if they'er going to win game can't put all on Cassel, defense win games. Lets hope with the additon to young defense guys that came in this year will help out big this season.

I'm sending Tonya Harding and Shane Stant over to Brady's house for a visit. Brady will have to let Gisele be on top too or that will be it for his career.

Funny madhatter.......I will send LT, (as in Theisman).

i know people are upset about what happened to Tom Brady, but there are a bunch of ther teams out there, and just because the have to use Toms Backup doesn't mean this kid won't be able to do a good job, after all Tom started as a backup and the only reason he got to play was because his QB got hurt too.

Brady has has plenty of time. Palmer had a similar injury in January 2006 and missed zero regular season games in September 2006.

The MCL will heal in 4 weeks. The ACL will take six months to rehab. He will be back in time for summer mini-camps. The Patriots on the other hand are going to have to really reshuffle that offense if they want to make some noise this season. I think they will make the playoffs, but I'm not sure if they can win that division with NYC and Buffalo looking more dangerous this year. Division games will be so crucial to their success.

That true, and Palmer didn't have a Giselle to cheer him up during rehab.

You can't say whether he'll be ready or not. He's never had an injury like this before.

Where's bond? Then again, who cares?

AFScott, classic Esquire Britney pose. Great choice my man!

Brady is a classic pocket passer, just like C-smith said earlier. Daunte Culpepper, on the other hand, was/is a scrambler. Sure, he can still sling the ball around, but his real strength was his ability to throw on the run. Brady won't loose as much as Culpepper did due to this injury, because he never had that running ability in the first place. It remains to be seen whether or not it impacts his mind in a way that effects his play. My guess is "no". Brady is mentally tough and will come back strong in '09.
