Garcia disagrees with Gruden

An ankle injury is not what will prevent quarterback Jeff Garcia from practicing or playing this week. Only coach Jon Gruden is responsible for that. Garcia, wearing no special support for a sprained ankle he sustained in Sunday's 24-20 loss to the Saints, said he disagreed with Gruden's decision to bench him for the Falcons game. But Garcia acknowledged that he could have played better in the opener and vowed to correct his mistakes while getting his 38-year-old body healthy. Veteran Brian Griese will start Sunday.

I don't like this whole situation as a Bucs fan, but I don't really like are choices either. Garcia or Griese, maybe we should have gotten Favre?

You think? And with how Gruden treats his QB's, Favre's probably glad they didn't. Who's up for balloon tricks?

Garcia and Gruden have too much negative history for Garcia to keep his job after that awful performance in New Orleans. Gruden had a weak out of using the ankle, but he should have known Garcia would come forward and call him on it. D'oh!

I can only imagine Gruden's face when Garcia came running out on the practice field. I'm sure he had a classic Gruden rant.

September 12, 2008  08:26 AM ET

time for the Pats to call TB and offer a low round pick for Garcia.

September 12, 2008  08:45 AM ET

Man farve to the Bucs seemed like a perfect idea. I don't know why they didn't go for it. I bet Brett would've rather played in Tampa.

September 12, 2008  09:04 AM ET

Gruden is a nutcase. His head is too big just because he won one ring. He falls in and out of love w/ QBs too fast. how many more QBs is he going to bring in now? He ruined a lot more already. He wooed some of them in and never got to play them. He is a QB killer.

Ship Garcia's butt to Minnnesota...please!

This would be a good choice for the Vikings. Vikings would be a lot more scarier if they had Garcia. The only thing missing for the Vikings offense is a QB.

Garcia will make the Vikings look so good and in return Garcia will look like a Pro Bowler.

September 12, 2008  10:06 AM ET

Its soooo obvious that Gracia does not want to be in Tampa anymore...

September 12, 2008  10:44 AM ET

Poor Jeff. He feared he would be replaced by someone like Brett and now he's replaced with someone not even close to Brett. Tough on the ego.

September 12, 2008  10:46 AM ET

Garcia, on the move.

Well, thank God we've got 23 quarterbacks. Get the feeling we're in for a long season, Bucs fans? The writing may be on the wall for Gruden, and quite frankly, I wouldn't mid a change. Winning a Superbowl with the other team's playbook in your back pocket was not impressive to me. I don't really count it as a true win. I'd like to go back to the Superbowl against any other team but the Raiders that year and see what turns up ... win or lose, I'd like it better.

Don't forget he did with the team Tony Dungy built. Gruden has only torn down TB's roster since the superbowl.

Garcia shouldn't worry, Griese is garaunteed to have a really horrible outing in one of the next few games and Gruden will bench him for Garcia as the merry-go-round turns. By the way, what ultimately happened to Simms? Could he be in the Buc's QB rotation equation?

The Pats are looking at him, but who knows if they'll take him. Either way, he's out of the Buc's QB pitcure. But fear not, for we still have Josh Johnson and Luke McCown. Maybe one of them will turn out to be the next Trent Dilfer.

Chris simms was released because he and Gruden didnt get along becasue Chris felt that Jon gave him the cold shoulder after he left his spleen on the field while busting his butt for the Buccs. Now Simms is part of the titans organization sitting behind Kerry Collins. Mark my words as a Buccs fan, Simms is going to make us regret ever letting him go.

By the next Trent Dilfer do you mean they are gonna play sub-par in red & pewter and go somewhere else and win a ring ? We just need some stability and youth at that postion. someone that will stay there for 10 years and that will never happen with Gruden at the reigns he wants to win now. I hate to agree you but I think a change might work I think we should offer Monte the Job he never took a head coach position becasue he didnt want to leave Tampa ( either by coaching the Buccs and taking the chance of not producing thus getting fired. or coaching another team) hes nearing the end of his career so he might just take the chance !!! But then again I gotta be careful for what I wish for things always seem greener on the other side we could end up with some dud head coach

Chucky wants to win. Can't blame him.
