Company cashes in on Brady injury

There's a company out there that's taking great delight in Chiefs safety Bernard Pollard's perfectly legal hit of Tom Brady that sadly ended Brady's season. The company apparently is trying to cash in as well by putting out a Pollard T-shirt, which hasn't exactly thrilled the folks out in New England. The T-shirt comes complete with a crossed out No. 12. Patriots cornerback Ellis Hobbs told the Boston Globe he can't believe people can be so thoughtless.

Thats just sad. Anything for a buck I suppose.

Supply and demand people. If it was so tasteless, why is this company going to make a mint off this? Because most of the country hates the arrogant Pats and their captain Brady.

September 12, 2008  06:20 AM ET

The jets and colts fans will buy them all.

September 12, 2008  06:36 AM ET

Laughs...people will buy anything

September 12, 2008  06:45 AM ET

Dang, why didn't I think of that!

September 12, 2008  06:49 AM ET

I'd like to at least see the T-shirt. It's kind of funny though that his teamate would reflect on how "thoughtless" people are regarding this. In a world where there is poverty, war, homelessness and and giant hurricane about to hit Texas, this is where this D-bags priorities lie with the human race? Oh woe are Tom Brady and the Patriots....how can the world be so cruel?

September 12, 2008  06:53 AM ET

Cassidy, Supply and Demand? Just because people buy it does not mean it's not tasteless. All markets, including my own, makes tasteless shirts, why? Well, because people buy them. One of my favorite tasteless shirts can be found right here in Boston, it reads "R.Kelly banged Sheffield's wife". It's totally tasteless, but it's funny and it sold.

As far as the "arrogant" comment,.............................................Y A W N!

September 12, 2008  06:56 AM ET

Yeah, the supply is from scum companies and the demand is from idiot fans. Anyone who would cash in on an injury to another human being is nothing but scum. I didn't see anyone cashing in on the unfortunate death of Derrick Thomas but I'm sure I'll be told that it is different.

Uh...yeah. Death and a simple injury are not even remotly the same thing. Not even in the same ballpark.

September 12, 2008  07:02 AM ET

If people buy it, so be it. The man isn't dead. He's only out for a year. People make money off far worse things. I personally wouldn't buy this, but I know someone will and has.

September 12, 2008  07:02 AM ET

He LetsGoPens, no one celebrated the injuries to your quarterback a few years ago. I'm sure you wouldn't like any sort of shirts marking his motorcycle accident with sarcasm, but, of course, that would be different. Also, talking about the scum involved with this, this is exactly the problem this country has. Anything to make a buck. Screw human compassion and decency, someone needs to make a buck.

You missed the point, or just ignored it. It is about cashing in on someone else's problem.

Also, how about t-shirts about Mario and his battle with cancer. Would those be funny to you?

You can't compare cancer to a torn ACL and MCL. It's not even in the league. Cancer is life threatening. A torn ACL and MCL is just a bad Patriots season and a couple of fantasy teams losing.

September 12, 2008  07:10 AM ET

Gesh what people will not lower themselves for a buck

Where are my Mo Lewis and Jack Tatum fan club tees?

Please, continue to miss the point. You didn't comment on Ben's injury a few years ago, I noticed. Would you be amused about t-shirts talking about Ben taking a face-plant?

Are you serious about comapring a knee injury to one of the deadliest diseases in the world? And Ben almost died in that motorcycle accident...apparently would have bled out if not for a paramedic who realized the extent of his injury. Again, not the same thing.

Is the T-shirt allegedly tasteless? I'm sure it is, but I couldn't say unless I saw it. I didn't say I wanted to buy one, just that I wanted to see it.

In other words, it's only funny when it happens to someone else. Don't dare to talk about your Pittsburgh teams in the same way. Ok, I get it.

Like I said, I wouldn't do it. But America was made off of other people's misfortunes and pain(ask a Native American). So to be "outraged" or mad that someone made a shirt for a guy with a torn knee, I can't do it. Like I said, I wouldn't buy it or endorse it. And life threatening injuries/conditions are far worse then a knee injury. Philly fans booed Michael Irvin when he could have been paralyzed. Fans get emotional and don't care about people sometimes.
