USC cornerback Shareece Wright has been charged with felony resisting a police officer in connection with a party in Colton last weekend. Police detained Wright at the scene, but he was not among several people arrested in the early morning hours on Sunday. The San Bernardino district attorney subsequently filed charges against him and three others. This week, Wright said he had attended a party for someone being deployed to Iraq. The Colton High alumnus declined to elaborate. At the time, Carroll said the junior would not face team discipline. "We went through the whole thing," Pete Carroll said. "We understand what happened."

Felony charges but no discipline.... great program you're running there, Carroll....

I can only imagine the outrage if this had happened to a Notre Dame player. Remember all the fallout about Jimmie Clausen? And all he did was drink a beer!

The San Bernardino district attorney must be a UCLA alum.

SoonerHeaven09: He wasn't arrested!!!!! This is America and WE are still innocent until proven guilty.

Read the article. He was not arrested at the scene, but "The San Bernardino district attorney subsequently filed charges against him and three others." As for this business about "still innocent until proven", where do you live? It sounds nice... A little unrealistic, but nice.

felony resisting a police officer

And no arrest? Wtfo? Sounds like like a beefed up charge. My guess is it will get dismissed or reduced to felony just being there.

This is a week-old scenario and the discipline of the kid was discussed by Carroll days ago in public even when it looked like there would be no charges. He wasn't even arrested when the incident took place. Please folks, think before you post.

Don't like the new site much, JFK?

Neither do I. I think we're stuck w/ it.

September 13, 2008  06:22 PM ET

No, actually, UCLA's the joke...BYU beat them 59-0.

Think if USC was playing a no name today, he would have been suspended? I know I do. But this game is important, and discipline goes out the window. There's integrity for you. Way to go Pete

Ah yes I see by your handle that you have all the facts in this instance, sox.

Let's just call tonight's game a trial by combat and see who's right.

If the NCAA won't punish them for Bush's payout, why should Carol punish his players? He knows he can do as he pleases since USC is the NCAA's lovechild.

September 13, 2008  09:27 PM ET

amen gymply if that was alabama they would be dogging saban but saban disciplines his players he suspended prince hall for the first 2 games and it wasn't cupcakes either but when your usc and you are espn's and ncaa's heros you can do what you want plus usc gets the best players money can buy

September 13, 2008  09:29 PM ET

No doubt a clear case of rule enforcement discrimination.

I'm listening to the Bama online right now. Roll Tide! I lived in Huntsville for about 15 years. Next time you're at Big Bob's BBQ order one of those BBQ potatoes for me. Yummy.
