The Eagles' logjam at cornerback generated headlines throughout the offseason, so how did things shake out in the season-opening dismantling of the Rams? Paul Domowitch of the Philadelphia Daily News passes along the following statistics: Asante Samuel played all 40 defensive snaps, with the other starter, Sheldon Brown, logging 32. Lito Sheppard, the nickel back, was in for 28. Defensive coordinator Jim Johnson, who usually keeps his corners on one designated side of the field, said he is open to the possibility that Samuel might follow Cowboys receiver Terrell Owens all over the field tomorrow night.

All I know is this is going to be a great game to watch.

Agree: This is one of those games you just got to see.

Samuel can smother T.O. But, without spygate films, Samuel will not get any pick offs. I see Johnson coordinating the pressure on Romo to dismantle the Dallas D.

Well, two out of three posts agree it will be a great game. Some buckethead had to throw a "spygate" thing out there.

September 14, 2008  08:39 AM ET

Not sure it means a thing, but the Eagles have beat the Cowboys 12 of the last 16 times they met, and three out of the last four.

September 14, 2008  08:44 AM ET

Sometimes it means something. Depends on how "up" the Eagles are. If they can get in McNabb's face early then the boys might take this one. McNabb has a history of taking his wrath out on Dallas in their house. Keerist, remember the Monday night game where he ran around for over 15 seconds and still threw a TD? That was embarrassing to say the least.

Cowboys 33-30

After seeing Samuel's play in the SuperBowl, TO's licking his chops.

So pressure on Tony Romo will dismantle the Cowboys' Defense??

He must be the greatest coach in the history of athletic competition.

Agreed. I don't know why everyone is singing the swan song for the Eagles now too - they beat up on the RAMS. The same St. Louis Rams that are comprised of Marc Bulger, Steven Jackson, and.....that's it!

If the Eagles give the Cowboys a game, then we can start to talk about them being for real, but I want to wait until Monday.

CSMITH: People forget that last year in Week #2 the Eagels hung 56 on the Lions only to score 3 against the Giants the next week.

This will be a good game, but really Dallas is not going to lay an egg, like last December when they were playing for nothing, do you remember the 38-17, spanking they got in Philly? Dallas has too many weapons, playing at home with something to prove, the Cowboys are not the 'Billy Goats'!!! And keep sleeping on the Dallas D, they has something to prove, too!

September 14, 2008  12:29 PM ET

Good luck with that, TO looks terrific this year

September 14, 2008  12:29 PM ET

35-21 Cowboys

September 14, 2008  12:34 PM ET

Who annointed the Cowboys the best team in the NFC?? Thats right, THEY DID!! Win something and then talk. I hope it is a good game, As a lifelong Birds fan game like this are just like chocolate....never know what your gonn get...EAGLES!!!

QUOTE DCB.COM:

It's Dallas glitz against Philly grit. It's five Super Bowls (1971, 1977, 1992, 1993, 1995) against three NFL championships (1948, 1949, 1960). It's perhaps the most passionate rivalry in pro football.

But no matter what, 'NFL Championship' does not equal 'SuperBowl'! Pidgeons!!!

September 14, 2008  12:50 PM ET

the eagles have pretty muched owned the cowboys lately.....

Don't recall Samuel being a great man coverage guy, so don't know how this makes sense.
