Should Rams coach, GM resign?

After another Sunday afternoon of humiliation, this in the form of a 41-13 smackdown delivered by the visiting New York Giants, Rams coach Scott Linehan was nearly trembling with rage as he addressed the media. Linehan won't survive, because there is nothing to suggest the Rams are capable of turning it around under his lead. Linehan should do the right thing and resign. Same with general manager Jay Zygmunt.

Yes.

Faulk is right. Blow the whole up and start over. What a mess. $18 million between holt and bulger. $10 million between witherspoon and another LB.
There is no coach out there who could make sense of that roster.. Pace and Long are the only assets they have. This did not happen overnight, this was destruction by design....

The state of Missouri has the worst professional football in the league. Ohio looks like they'd really like to contend for the title though.

Keep, not quite there with you on that statement. Have you SEEN pro football in the state of Michigan ... ?

How many months until the Ram's '09 summer camps open?

September 15, 2008  09:26 AM ET

As long as Matt Millen has a job, nobody should have to resign.

September 15, 2008  10:32 AM ET

The Rams sorry state has been almost a decade in the making, and is directly attributable to management thinking they know more than the rest of the world. That's why they forced Dick Vermeil out days after winning a Super Bowl, why they forced a two-time MVP (Kurt Warner) out prematurely, and why they continue to make incredible reach picks (from Trung Canidate to Jacoby Shephard to Eric Crouch to Donnie Avery) on Day One of Draft Day. 100 percent of the front office needs to resign along with Scott Linehan and defensive coordinator Jim Haslet. That's the drastic type of measure that needs to be taken to turn this organization around!

The St Louise Lambs are currently a brutally bad football team. Linehan shjould do the honourable thing and fall on his own sword.

I'm pretty sure anyone of us on this site could do a better job then Millen. What a chump! Add to that Marinelli and Kitna. All people in a leadership role that couldn't lead an expedition to find the goal line.

still had the pieces of a great team.. just bad management and coaching.. i thought linehan should have been fired last year.. but they kept him.. they're going to be the bottom feeders of the NFL now.

September 15, 2008  11:38 AM ET

Need new coaching lines, something aint right there..besides them getting blown out there 2 games...

There taking over Miami Dolphins role..that aint fair!

September 15, 2008  12:40 PM ET

Time to blow the team up starting with the front office

September 15, 2008  12:53 PM ET

Maybe they should blow up the team and move back to L.A

September 15, 2008  01:08 PM ET

Couldn't agree more with "Hoffa the Great's" comment. As a Detroit fan, I can't see how any team can have their GM / coach villified ahead of Detroits!!

September 15, 2008  01:27 PM ET

Rams decline started when Vermeil retired.

September 15, 2008  01:55 PM ET

I think in a way it is being done purposely, if they can say that they are losing money do to fan base then the Rams can have more of an excuse to move the team back to LA. they can not do it while they are filling the stands.

LOL, Even though we the front office have made terrible moves from lanahan to allowing him to bring in a boat load of dolphins rejects and also drafting very poorly the front office has done horribly but dont be surprised if in the next year or two the moving the team convo comes up.

Resignation = forfeiting your salary. I doubt he's that stupid. The honorable thing would be to admit your mistake and can him, while eating the salary you signed him to.

Watched about the first three quarters of that game (before I switched over to CBS who was showing Vikings-Colts) and the Rams looked terrible. If this goes on for the whole season, then these two have to go so that this franchise can start over again.

I can't see them resigning. You are going to fire them.
