The word on sports radio here in Detroit this morning is Yzerman is going to take the role over from the "Great One". Team Canada has a lot of pressure in 2010 with having a poor showing in '06 and being in Vancouver.

I wonder if Gretz is looking to coach Team Canada? Would that be a good idea with his limited coaching experience?

That would be a big step for Stevie Y at this point FTR...but he's certainly a guy the team would rally around and unquestionably respect. Yzerman along with Sakic have been huge part's of Canada's international program over the years.

I think there is no question there are better options for the coaching position. Gretz's record in Phoenix aside, his limited experience does not put him ahead of other more qualified cnadidates.

He's been coaching a young Coyotes team with brio last year. One of the top teams on the road and with a nver say die attitude that allowed them to come back from 2-0 or 3-0 on mnay occasions. That shows good coaching to me.

Wise decision! With someone as capable as Steve Y available, why would Gretz want the headache? He's got enough on his plate and, Steve Y knows he can count of Wayne's full support! Git'er done!
