Good bye Kenny- it was a good having you in Detroit- but I think this is gonna be it pal. Hopefully you enjoy your retirement- however, since we would ALL like to let Chuck go- would you think about pitching coach- Lord knows you were more of a coach to the younger guys to begin with...

Oh the clouds would part, and God would smile on the Tigers if this happened. We get a pitching coach, then sign a K-rod and another starter, any pitching coach worth their salt will get one of the Garcia/Willis tandem to pan out, maybe both...

It was obvious that Leyland was trying to get Kenny close to his incentive markers but there is no way he could trot him out there again. Thanks for 2006 Kenny. We all hope to see you as the Tigers pitching and fielding coach next season.

Thanks US Gov- honestly- there is not a pitcher in the game that has been as good a fielder in his age as Kenny I think. Not at least in Tigers history. That said, it's probably what has career wise been the attributing factor to his overall win record. And goodness knows- the Tigs could really use that kinda help. That aside- uit will be interesting to see what we do in the off season this time. We need relief help and a short stop like it's nobody business. Maybe we could het a good package for Maggs via trade? I dunno- the free agent market is not bad pitching wise but I don't know about all the money and years it would take to sign K-Rod, especially competing with the Mets since the need a closer now. There are no real good shortstops availible free agent wise which scares me that we would just decline Renterias option to only pick him up cheaper because he is not that great in the AL nor doers he have any good range much anymore and because the market is so thin we would have to take him on again just because there isn't anything else out there... Man- try saying all that in one breath...
Alot to go this off season- but we have a team that could be good next year depending on what go after.

Superb ,competitive, clever, pitcher , He still can help a team on field -- assuming he wants to next season

he could pitch half a season for a playoff bound team and be a valuable component down the stretch.

A FACT: Don't forget our outfield situation. If Maggs goes, we have Granderson and prayers. In my opinion, neither of the kids (Thomas, Joyce) have shown that they are ready to be full-timers, and Clevlen seems to have fallen off of the prospect list. I'm sure that you have also noticed how Thames has tailed off. He has shown once again that he is a valuable roll player, not a full timer. I just wanted to give you another paragraph to think about regarding next year.
Kenny would be a good choice to replace Chuck. From our blogs to Dombrowski's ears.....

I'd try him in the bull pen first, and see how that goes before just benching him. He has been great in the clubhouse for the young pitchers, so keeping him in the organization as a pitching coach would be wise. Detroit has a lot of good young pitchers in the system he could be working with.

at least he can feel confident that he can get a job doing hair coloring commercials
