The hottest rumor floating around the Cup garage this weekend [at New Hampshire] is that Chip Ganassi still is trying to make a deal with another team to keep himself in NASCAR. This week it was supposedly an arrangement with Michael Waltrip Racing, which would expand to four cars and put Montoya in a Toyota.

Jesus how far have you floated away from the boat when your only lifeline is Michael Waltrip.
Juan Pablo must have his phone turned off so he doesn't have to have people calling up just to have them laugh in his ear.

Montoya in a Toyota; That sounds pretty good.

Sith; I know you will like this.

September 16, 2008  09:50 AM ET

Waltrip's a good guy. lets not throw too much pie in his face.
I would love to see the both of them ( Waltrip & Montoya) on "This week in NASCAR"

LOL Shave, you are dead right.
And somehow it seems that Montoya/Toyota should be a paliandrome or an acrostic, or something like that. Toyota Montoya sounds like a sci-fi villain.

Fine, now I have to get my dictionary out, Thanks! LOL Good Morning All!

Man, and I liked cheering for Montoya. But that will change if he drives a Toyota!!!

September 16, 2008  10:13 AM ET

Ohio; using that logic, I have to assume you would cheer for Kyle Busch if he drove a Chevy LOL Montoya would be the same guy if he drove a Toyota. It sound kind of nice, the Montoya Toyota LOL

FLOAT; while your at it, let me know what acrostic means. I must have been in the coffee shop when thay discussd that.

September 16, 2008  10:16 AM ET

Morning Everyone! JK, how the heck are you?

September 16, 2008  10:18 AM ET

Acrostic - noun
1. A series of lines or verses in which the first, last, or other particular letters when taken in order spell out a word, phrase, etc.

September 16, 2008  10:27 AM ET

Acrostic - word I will never have a purpose for
I hope Ganassi works it out and that Montoya sticks around. With the scary news on Wall St this week, (including major local employer purchasing Merrel Lynch), everyone should feel more of an urgency to find an island...........even if it is Waltrip Racing. See if Mikey can have a strong showing at talledaga lol

September 16, 2008  10:44 AM ET

Ganassi needs to be committed to his team before he goes out and tries to purchase another. We all know his main passion is open wheel with NASCAR as a hobby or "side project". If Michael sells out that just shows his commitment to the sport is just as weak as Ganassi's. How do you start a team then 2 years later sell it? Mikey gets an "F" for FAIL!

Welcome to the our world Jackman. As much as you all bash the big 3 I hope all goes well with the establishment in your part of the country.

September 16, 2008  10:53 AM ET

I cant tell by the article if one is trying to buy the other.
Got it joefordproud. Not good days to be an American manufacturer...and now banking. It pisses me off all these mighty executives walk away from thousands of lives destroyed and they have golden parachutes. Wish I could make millions making poor decisions.

September 16, 2008  10:54 AM ET

The Montoy-ota....hhhmmm....the name has prospects...

September 16, 2008  11:12 AM ET

You mean Chip and Mikey are going to be a couple, I can just picture them walking down the pier in San Fran on a off weekend, feeding each other crabs.

September 16, 2008  11:15 AM ET

couldn't agree with you more. I read that the CEO of freddy or fanny took a 100 million dollar bonus last month.

September 16, 2008  11:18 AM ET

Jackman -- Ditto ... and we should include the names of oil "speculators" , CEOs, board members of rip-off oil companies ... it would be interesting to see their reaction to someone knocking on their doors at 0-dark-thirty (just to chat now mind ya'). Someone needs to be held accountable for their rip-off actions.

Morning Everyone! JK, how the heck are you?

Not well today; Wall Street is making me sick.
On topic, The Big Four ( Hendrick, Roush, Childress and Gibbs) have cornered the market in Nascar. The little guys are being forced to merge in order to survive. Follow the money.

16 drivers out of 43, we still need the Little Guys!!
morning JK, need your diaper changed? LOL
