The National Basketball Players Association confirmed today that Miami Heat first-round draft choice Michael Beasley has filed papers to sever his ties with agent Joel Bell. The players' union said Beasley filed the paperwork last Wednesday. Under union rules, Beasley cannot sign with another agent for 15 days, which means he will be without representation until at least Sept. 25, two days before the start of training camp. Selected out of Kansas State after the Chicago Bulls drafted point guard Derrick Rose, Beasley has yet to announce any major promotional contracts, despite being, arguably, the most hyped player coming out of college.

B-Easy was the most hyped player of his graduating class. He hasn't gotten any great deals because he was over exposed and it became obvious to people that he was a bit of a jokester and he found himself funny (even when he wasn't).

Just take a look at his "Michael Beasley Rookie" series of short videos. He laughs at people, makes fun of people, claims to be flabergasted that "strangers" speak to him as if they know him, subjects us to watching him get another tatoo and he's late to everything.

Not corporate friendly.

Well-said. Thanks.

Yea, for this guy to have no major endorsements or promotional contracts is a travesty. His agent is clearly a bonehead, and needed to be fired. Hope he finds a classy agent that can help him get to the next level & make the transition to the NBA as seamless as possible. The HEAT need this guy to hit the ground running.

The agent is deserving to be fired. The guy is drafted No. 2 and he does not have a deal yet.

He doesn't just want a deal, he wants a Lebron or Tiger Woods type deal. One that's bigger than his contract. That's how today's player gets "security" for himself and his family in the first three years. He can't sign a huge contract so he wants a big, big endorsement deal.

The huge contract will come after his third season. But he has to afford the new lifestyle for himself and his family now and that means a big addidas deal, or gatorade, or powerade, or something.
