DeSean Jackson tries to explain screw-up

DeSean Jackson blamed his youth after he dropped the ball at the 1-yard line on what should have been his first career touchdown midway through the second quarter. "I thought I was in the end zone," he said. "You know, sometimes things happen like that, and I'm still young. I still have to learn. It definitely won't happen again, though." Jackson was guilty of a similar offense in a high school all-star game when he leaped for the end zone and came up short. "In high school, I dove into the end zone," Jackson said. "That was a totally different thing."

Stupid is as stupid does. Guess he didn't learn from his high school debacle.

Great WR but he's going to be the next Ray Carruth

September 17, 2008  06:41 AM ET

He's just lucky his team scored right afterwards. How old does he have to become before he stops acting like a jackass?

Quit showboating and just play the game!! In the grand scheme of things that would be touchdown will only be remembered by you and your family. Now your blunder will be played on sports center for the next 20 years. What happened when players use to have class and be humble? Could be either Chad Johnson's or Terrell Owens long lost brother.

I don't know about that. But you would think he would learn after what he did in high school

Exactly, what a tool. Play the game with some class, and you'll be remembered by the fans and your teammates as such. Play like a d/bag and be remembered as that.

Any one see Emmitt try and get the least bit of humility and "team" out of TO during the post game show late Monday? It was embarrassing for TO but the sad part is he never really got it......

I loved Emmit Smith the football player..but Emmit Smith the "announcer" should be nowhere near a microphone.

Oh yeah, Emmit is not very good on the mic, too tight. Absolutely butchers the english language. He is getting better though, no really!!

September 17, 2008  07:31 AM ET

All those here who hate me and my comments each day know I am usually an apologist for the players. But not here with Jackson. This guy's antics are ridiculous. I can't stand this guy.

Hitt'n the nail on the head with that one jj730.

"I think if the Giants score more points than the Cowboys, they can win today" Emmit said that during the playoffs. I think that says it all about his announcing skills..

He's T.O. What did you expect.....people trip me out with statements like this. T.O. is always going to be T.O., either you get this watered down version of NOW or the wide open version of THEN. Hate him or love him, he's ALWAYS going to be HIS biggest fan. So when looking at a T.O. interview try not to get him confused with somebody like Brett Favre, who apologizes before, during and after a game......that way you won't be disappointed!

Next time hold the ball when your in touchdown zone it's really not that hard to tell you can't really blame it on youth even pewee football kids knows that.

That's a little harsh, Hank. I wouldn't go that far, that's like wishing bad luck on a person. Negative energy and very evil. He's resonsible for me losing in one of my fantasy leagues and I don't feel that way. Hopefully, he learns from this mistake, 'cause it was embarrassing to him and his family.

That is very true. Only two former Cowboys are good announcers, Troy and Moose. Unfortunately, Moose is handicapped by that idiot Sarigusa (sp!).
