Fifteen months after spurning the Orlando Magic, Billy Donovan still hasn't signed his six-year, $21-million contract extension with the Florida Gators that was announced in June 2007. Florida Athletic Director Jeremy Foley said Tuesday that the school is "very close" to an agreement with Donovan's camp. Donovan's contract extension has been talked about for more than two years, dating to after the 2006 season before he signed with and then backed out of a deal with Orlando's NBA team. After Donovan abandoned a five-year, $27.5-million contract with the Magic that he signed on June 1, 2007, the Gators held a news conference to announce Donovan's future along with that of Florida football coach Urban Meyer. Meyer signed his deal worth $3.25 million per year later in 2007. But Donovan's most updated contract with the university is from April 16, 2003, according to documents obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request. That contract calls for Donovan to be paid about $1.7 million per year through April 15, 2009. However, university spokesman Fred Demarest said Donovan was paid $3.5 million last season based on the extension the coach has not yet signed.

So technically Donovan received the $3.25 million and can still get mor in the futire (per year). Not a bad deal and the guy has earned the money.

So I wonder why he hasn't signed the extension yet? Just working out details?

I don't see Donovan going anywhere Hogtown, he will probably bring another title to Gainesville in the next 2 to 3 years.
