Dodge: GEM won't leave car maker
Dodge officials expect Gillett Evernham Motorsports to remain with the manufacturer next season, despite reports the team wants to abandon the slumping automaker for a deal with Toyota. Mike Delahanty, senior manager for Dodge Motorsports programs, called a possible GEM switch to Toyota "nothing but pure speculation." GEM is believed to be in talks to purchase Bill Davis Racing, one of the original Toyota teams, as a way to expand to four cars. A Fox Sports report said the acquisition of BDR would pave the way for Gillett to switch to Toyota. Bill Davis' one-car team has a lucrative Toyota deal, but is lacking the sponsorship needed to be competitive. Michael Waltrip Racing, another struggling Toyota team, could also be a target. Waltrip has three cars, but only one has full-time sponsorship locked up for 2009.

I hope they stay with Dodge, if many teams switch to another Manufacturer, Dodge would surely pull out in the near future.

I guess because he drives a Dodge, Float. There sure isn't any other reason it should be his picture.

Well he won't be with dodge for long.. if anyone should have been in this picture it should have been Kasey kahne, at least he is on the GEM team and drives a dodge..
I agree with your float.. if there is another team that switches car makes Dodge will be done in the Cup series.. followed by the rest of the series.

Blaney in a Dodge?,better than a Toy, at least for 09.Dodges relations are long with Ray, not GEM. Ray momst likely doesn't call too many shots anymore.

You know why T&R has such bad NASCAR stories?
Because they assign it to somebody who is not a NASCAR fan.
The guy gets the first story he see's coming off the wire instead of reading through all of them and picking out the best.
Then he goes through a pool of photos and grabs the first one of those.
These articles have felt slapped together for a long time now.
I wish I knew who to talk to and take over responsibility for the stories.

Kahne having the same equipment as Kyle, that would make for some good racing.
I am a huge Mopar fan, but they are just not on the same page as the other car makers.
Sadly.

It almost doesn't make a difference which manufacturer they go with. With the cookie cutter bodies, the biggest difference is the engine package. Pick up a couple of hot shot engine builders for a specific make, a good chassis engineer and the rest 'should' fall into place. The biggest assist that JGR got was probably a few Toyota engineers that lived in the shop the entire preseason showing the tricks that build the power in a reliable manner. The 'tricks' are the same across the board..its just the parts manufacturer and the know-how in assembling these 800hp engines to live. Then have a decent driver ;). I doubt any team cares what car they run as long as they get a good contract and support behind the scenes. Heck, John Force (NHRA plug here) loves GM, but Ford gave him a better deal and he's been in Mustangs/Fusions ever since. I'm sure NASCAR is exactly the same way.

John Force is the man!! He arrived at the Texas dragstrip the same way he left.. in a medivac helicopter with the same crew that took him after his nasty crash (http://www.nhra.com/content/news/32591.htm)

It is a Dodge which unfortunately wouldn't be missed if they were replaced by Chevy. They just aren't that competitive. Maybe Iacocca should take over the team...he saved Dodge/Chrysler. I could dig on a team of "Aries K" cars dominating the field!!

I will say that Dodge has some of the more progressive "looking" American autos. I actually think most of their models are cool and I would buy one if shopping. But of course....who is shopping now days? I wouldnt be caught dead in those traps made by Suzuki, Hyundia (they actually copied a Jag look), Kia etc.............sorry. Would buy the American version of the shrimp cars.

I had a Sweet Plymouth 76 Duster 360 , that Kicked Butt!
I don't know where this ties in, but I thought I'd tell you anyway.
It had one of those "always moving Gas gauges", couldn't afford to drive it now.

Iacocca didn't really save Chrysler, we, the taxpayer did. With that said, it was his ingenuity that was able to sway the Congress to give them the bailout money. I give Chrysler credit for the fact that they paid every penny of that money back to the United States.

Jackman, I agree, John Force is the MAN. I went down to his race shop in Yorba Linda a few years ago (long before his accident). The guy is a ball of fire. He has more trophies than he knows what to do with. He signed every car that attended (was a car club event). My car is signed on the trunk lid and under the hood by him. Cool stuff. His daughters were cute back then..who knew Ashley would turn into a total fox and drag racer now <lol>. He's much more approachable than Don Prudhomme. I used to hang in their pits (along with some Van Halen members, etc.) Dixon and Ron Capps are cool..Don would disappear. Oh..and Dodges designs are miles ahead of GM's currently. As for the topic, Dodge needs a marque team, and Kahne is more popular than any Penske driver currently..so there they'll stay.....

I'm not really surprised by this. Evernham was the man that lead the Dodge charge to get back into Cup.
