Vikings owner still backs coach

Zygi Wilf, the Vikings' owner who guaranteed nearly $70 million in new player contracts before the season and then watched his team lose its first two games, said Tuesday he still has confidence in coach Brad Childress. "Everybody has my vote of confidence," Wilf said. Flip flop quarterbacks -- put the Vikings' Tarvaris Jackson with Green Bay and the Packers' Aaron Rodgers with the Vikings -- and there is little doubt Minnesota would be 2-0 now and Green Bay 0-2. When Childress accepted the Vikings' job three years ago, he did so expecting he would have a franchise QB in Daunte Culpepper, not a rookie he hoped he could develop into a winner.

Its T.Jacksons fault not baldy's.

Another loss with this team, and the season is OVER! Why this team won't go out and get Simms, Garcia, or even Culpepper......BoBo get's really depressed over this one. No clown tricks today....

too talented a team to lose this much. how the vikings and the chargers aren't 2-0 solely rests on their coaching staff and front office not getting the job done.

September 17, 2008  07:45 AM ET

The Vikings have played good teams the first 2 games remember that. The Packers were a field goal away from the Super Bowl. And the Colts still are a good team.

September 17, 2008  07:53 AM ET

They should swallow their pride and bring back cukpepper.

September 17, 2008  07:59 AM ET

Is he a distant cousin of Bill Cowher???

I like your news but not your weather.

Drunk Eli!!! (echo) I know your out there somewhere. Don't worry buddy, it's still early, an 0-2 start can be overcome. You're not on suicide watch already are you???

September 17, 2008  08:10 AM ET

... know you're. Excuse me. That's too many mistakes for me, I'm going back to sleep.

September 17, 2008  08:21 AM ET

Jackson hasn't been impressive, but the playcalling has been HORRIBLE. It also doesn't help matters that they STILL don't have a legit go-to-guy in the receiving corps. Berrian doesn little more than run fly-patterns, and is hurt. Rice hasn't proven that he can consistantly get open, and he's hurt. And Shiancoe couldn't catch water in his mouth at a drinking fountain. Plus, not having your starting left tackle has been a problem. Have you noticed where a lot of the pressure has been coming from (ESPECIALLY in the Indy game)? The Green Bay game was lost because of three big plays. A 60 yard run, a 60 yard pass and a punt return for a touchdown. The Indy game was lost because they didn't put their foot on the Colts' throat and put them down like a veteran team. They're young, and they have to learn how to do that. But it's not by abandoning part of your game and then being shocked when you're out out of rhythm when you go back to it. It's not quite panic time, and a lot of the blame has been put on Jackson, but there is PLENTY to go around.

September 17, 2008  08:22 AM ET

T.Jackson is just not ready yet, getting a vet QB will help your team, and give more time to improve Jackson Vikes have a good team but I can't blame a lot on the coach on this on only that his QB is not ready.

September 17, 2008  09:05 AM ET

Childress can't rely on Jackson and needs to get a better QB. His job is on the line. He made that mistake last season and it's time to learn from that lesson and move on.

September 17, 2008  09:14 AM ET

Childress is the biggest MORON I have ever seeing coaching a game the guy has no clue what he is doing every Sunday. If I were Ziggy I would of canned Chilly right after the Colts game the guy has his head so far up his arse he couldnt see the light. Dont most coaches call a time out before the opposing kicker is getting ready to make a game winnign FG?? Not Chilly he to stupid to realize that. Once they lose to Carolina this Sunday I sure hope Chilly is shown the door and this person they call a QB in Jackson is on the bench the rest of the year and have Fergot in there the rest of the way.

September 17, 2008  09:22 AM ET

If Brad Childress expected to come in with Daunte Culpepper at the helm instead of having to develop a quarterback, why has he only drafted one and not tried to trade for Sage Rosenfelds, Chris Simms, Todd Collins, or, for that matter, try to re-sign Daunte Culpepper and give him a starting job. Also, he could have snagged Chad Pennington when the Jets released him and Pennington probably would have done well in a dome.

Since none of the above happened, or any other scenario where a partially or fully developed quarterback signed with the Vikings, we must assume that Chilly wanted to develop a quarterback. So far, he's failed.

September 17, 2008  09:51 AM ET

The Fonz...Exactly. He made it obvious that T. Jackson was his QB. That was a football decision by him. As he goes, so goes the coach...And rightfully so...Maybe his ego wanted to show everybody that not only was he a good Head coach, but a guru of developing talent....It is his now...If they do not make the play offs, he is out..Might even have to win a play off game...

September 17, 2008  10:11 AM ET

Childress may be re-thinking his dismissal last year of the idea of bringing Jeff George back. Tarvaris is THAT bad........

September 17, 2008  10:41 AM ET

TJ is way too timid to be QB. He looks scared. Plus his arm is of the wet noodle variety. Bring Culpepper back.

September 17, 2008  10:43 AM ET

TJ is not a good QB. He is way too timid. He looks scared. His very inaccurate and his arm is of the wet noodle variety. Bring back Culpepper.

TJack sucks, but Childress is worse.
