"If he does not celebrate this stuff because he is black", then what does he celebrate? The 20th anniversary of Cheech and Chongs up in smoke? What amazes me is how many blacks think because Obama may or may not respect the flag (you remember the debate about not putting the hand over heart, the lack of a flag on his lapel) they feel they no longer have to. I have heard a lot of stuff out of african americans mouth bashing McCain because of his being a vet. I have heard them in recent months make comments like Howard.. this election is going to create issues when it is over no matter who is elected.

Josh Howard has gone too far and he probably can get further w/ his shenanighans. He has embarrassed himself and his family the most and at the same time embarrassed his community, organization, employers, and U.S.A. It seems that he has not learned any lesson and his waiting for something drastic to happen for him to learn his lessonsssss. Ever since he got his big contract it seems that his true color had shown up. He now has a no care attitude. He probably needs to be banned from the NBA for 1 year w/ no pay for him to learn some lessons. Or maybe do a Ricky Williams and retire and concentrate w/ his pot smoking.

This guy is such an idiot, it makes my back hurt....Its funny, how he wont celebrate his country, b/c he is black, and apparently percieves some injustice against him, but I bet this moron lives better than many white people, all courtesy of this great country....And whoever above said his problems are outweighing his talent , could not be more spot on....He is a slightly above average small forward, that has problems in crunch time

First of all many blacks feel like they don't wanna partake in the Star Spangled Banner because of the very recent history of this country. My grandfather say's he'll NEVER sing that ish because he had NO rights coming up and he actually marched with Dr. Martin Luther King. He was hosed by those racist cops who were supposed to be protecting HIM... So i don't wanna hear your patriotic bull. Blacks have a real reason to STILL not be patriotic. We just got our rights 40 years ago. Most of you are that old, so you know it's not a long time ago. And for any of you to say black people should get over it are just STUPID... This is real talk and you morons need to wake up and face reality. And this is nothing new... You all have all seen pictures from the 68' Olympics when Tommie Smith and John Carlos held their fists in the air for a silent protest during the Star Spangled Banner, so I don't wanna hear nothing about black people doin this because of Obama... We have our own minds and out own experiences.

I'm sure he has no problem cashing his multi-million dollar payroll checks in the same country that gave him that opportunity to begin with.

State of Confusion, I hate people like you who generalize all races...Josh Howard doesn't speak for all black people, niether does Barack Obama....hell neither does your black next door neighbor. hmmm...let's see. He makes more money than most people..black or white. And I'm sure he has no problems collecting that American money every month. But he can't shut his fat mouth and sit still for 2 1/2 minutes to pay tribute to the flag and the song that represents the country that pays his sorry ****? Tell me this..in what other country could this dogmeat earn the kind of money he does? He's a total ingrate..I mean really..what the hell would he be doing if it wasn't for the professional sports industry in THIS country? Odds are he'd be unemployed, and under a bridge somewhere.

The bottom line is that whether you think he is right or not, he's allowed to think what he wants.

..and I direct my above tirade with respect to the attitude and actions of Josh Howard alone. I realize he is not representative of athletes or black people in general. There are plenty of folks who may have reasons to feel disenchanted with our country or our government..and there are plenty of forums through which an intelligent person can express this. The public forum of a basketball game shouldn't be one of them in my opinion. I agree with Jamaicanmeangry above...5 years after his mediocre NBA career is over...he's a broke down joke!

Hope he goes to Russia or someplace other than here...then never returns!

We have seen what a good percentage of you blacks have on your minds and what you have experienced. The dropout rate for blacks just eclipsed the 50% mark nationally, the incarceration rate is off the charts, and now even the Star Spangled Banner is something you want to protest. If you think its so bad here, I would love to see how you would survive back in Africa without a government wellfare check coming to you every month.
