Mayo investigation worries USC

When allegations surfaced this year that USC basketball star O.J. Mayo had received improper benefits from a sports agency funneled through close advisors, the university pointed to its own scrutiny of Mayo and said an NCAA "investigation" had deemed him eligible. Now, with two sources confirming that an NCAA representative met with Mayo and advisor Rodney Guillory for several hours before certifying the player's eligibility for the 2007-08 school year, there is national focus on how that NCAA pre-screening process could affect USC's possible culpability in the Mayo scandal. USC Athletic Director Mike Garrett and men's basketball Coach Tim Floyd declined to comment, but university officials have privately expressed frustrations about the severity of any looming discipline the NCAA or Pacific 10 Conference may deliver the Trojans in light of the NCAA screening of Mayo. And several college basketball coaches say they are closely watching to see how the case turns out.

I'm pretty sure the NCAA would have it this way, but it's been awhile and I forgot all about this case. However the Reggie Bush case seems to be more high-profile. Maybe because of SC's influx of national and conference championships, not to mention the Heisman, while he played.

If FLoyd and Garrett knew, we have to pay the penalty. That's The Bottom Line!

If violations occured (i.e. a player took money) the school should pay in some way. This should be SC's second strike with Bush being the first.

That's what happens when you sign with the Devil, and in this case Mayo was the DEVIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What doesnt make sense is that USC had the NCAA investigate and clear Mayo before allowing him to enter USC.

So why all the hoopla. Happens all the time igh profile school or not. He got some cash a car or two. How may millions does the school and the NCAA receive. This water under the bridge. They should be more concerned about these refs in football and basketball blowing these calls. Also watching these predator agents and boosters. They're the real culprits.
