MLB's drug police were at Yankee Stadium yesterday - before the Yankees' 5-1 victory over the White Sox - to administer tests to non-uniform personnel several days after players were required to pee in a cup. Strength and conditioning coach Dana Cavalea and massage therapist Scott Yelin were among those on the list to be tested. Testing staff members was introduced this year, and it was the first time the testers surfaced at the Stadium. MLB testers already have tested Mets staffers.

Test everyone man. Most people are living some sort of seedy life. And they are in denial...BIG TIME. If I was a Yankee I would be doing the good stuff.

dont they test every teams employee's? Then why is it a big deal when they test the Yankees? Oh yeah if a field sweeper tests positive, who cares? Does it mean some home runs are tainted?

Why in the world would you need to test staff members. What's next, drug testing the hotdog vendor the beer man?! MLB rules regarding illegal substance abuse is a joke!!! They need to be testing actual players.

Hurry and test Bonds so they can strip him of his cheating tainted records.

They should have tested the Sox... I mean come on... Anyone that loses to this yanks team must be high. Or at least have stids.

That's just rough. The massage therapist? Poor guy -- no doubt he likes a strong tug off a spliff every now and again.

September 18, 2008  08:37 AM ET

I wonder if they do this to see if any of the players actually got their sample from the off-field employees.

September 18, 2008  08:44 AM ET

You mean to tell me there might be users in New York that AREN'T active players?

September 18, 2008  09:04 AM ET

Did they test Girardi for chin steroids?

Why does anyone care about this?

September 18, 2008  10:27 AM ET

Honestly, why test staffers on ANY team? What sort of an idiotic rule is that? Are they worried that all of America's young trainers-to-be will be disillusioned to find that professional trainers do drugs?

I think they should test owners.

Indeed some of the moves they make appear to indicate some form of substance abuse.

I heard they were going to start testing fans next spring...

I know that Mets fans are experiencing soaring rates of depression and high blood pressure.

September 18, 2008  11:14 AM ET

doesn't make any sense that they are just doing New York Teams???

September 18, 2008  11:17 AM ET

I'm sure they're doing every team...but it's only a headline when you can put "Yankees" and "drug test" in the same sentence. Does wonders for hits from Google.

The way Ned Yost handled the bullpen, he should have been tested!
