Porter takes shot at Cassel

Maybe Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter was intending to show his respect for injured quarterback Tom Brady. Matt Cassel probably won't appreciate the kind gesture. On Wednesday, Porter sounded confident about the team's ability to defeat Cassel, who has been charged with the tall task of replacing Brady, to the point where Porter noted, ``it'll be good to go out and get our first victory.'' ''I just know [Cassel] is not a Tom Brady,'' said Porter, when asked how difficult it will be to prepare for a quarterback he has never seen. ``If it's not Tom Brady, it shouldn't be that hard. They won last week, but it's not like they were putting up the crazy 40 points they were when they had Tom."

What a suprise, Joey Porter opening his big fat mouth!

September 18, 2008  07:36 AM ET

Yeah, Porter. Pull the tigers tail a little harder. Not too smart to dis the team your playing this week thats 2-0 when your 0-2. Bradys out, but the Patriots are still a good team thats going to kick your arse!!! (and it wont take 40 points to beat the hapless fish)

Bond 0000 should be here any minute to agree with you.

September 18, 2008  07:40 AM ET

Thats what the Jets and their fans were thinking last week. No Brady, this should be a cake-walk. How'd that turn out for ya!

September 18, 2008  08:04 AM ET

But the last time he made a prediction for the Dolphins, it backfired. Porter guaranteed a win in Week 4 against the Oakland Raiders, who ran for 299 yards in a 35-17 victory at Dolphin Stadium.

His track record is amazing.

cassell could say so many things back. hope he chooses to ignore joey.

September 18, 2008  08:10 AM ET

All I have to say is HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Now that out the way, Porter you was better with the Steelers then the Dolphins. And I won't call this an easy win, see last week game with the Jets thinking the same as you and lose. You have to win a game first before opening your mouth.

As for Matt Cassel he will be fine I think you will see a little more passing down filed this week, Bill will open up the playbook a little bit more as the weeks go on. The running game with LaMont Jordan is really good and defense is stepping up, they just need to keep this up all season and the Pats will be ok.

September 18, 2008  08:12 AM ET

Are Porter and T.O. long-lost twins or something? Their mouths just NEVER stop flapping. As the old funk band, Cameo used to sing, "you're talking out the side of yo neck!"

September 18, 2008  08:18 AM ET

News flash to Joey Porter: your a nobody , infact Ill put $ on it that right now more casual fans of the NFL know who Matt Cassel is then they do Joey Porter. Isnt it about time you retire Porter?

September 18, 2008  08:24 AM ET

Beany! Good to see you...I agree, I expect to see Cassel add a few more clubs to his bag and a play action fake or two. Still, I hope they don't stray from the Dinkin' Dunkin Donuts strategy with the short passes to the outside and dumping it over the middle. Nothing more humiliating than YAC for a defense and I want the Pats to YAC all over Porter.

September 18, 2008  08:26 AM ET

I would have a brain orgasm if the Fish win......

September 18, 2008  08:35 AM ET

If I recall correctly, the last couple times Joey Porter has talked trash, the Dolphins have gotten blown out.

September 18, 2008  08:38 AM ET

wasnt he almost done for the season?

September 18, 2008  08:38 AM ET

Who is Joey Porter and why should Cassel be concerned?

September 18, 2008  08:41 AM ET

Hey PimpyLooka

had paper work up to my neck all summer so now I have some free time at work.

But Porter is one fuuny guy he need his mouth stapled, so he dosen't sound like a litte kid.
