06:09 AM ET 09.19 | Chicago radio stations and sports bars have begun spinning "All the Way," a Cubs-themed ditty written by Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder at the request of Cubs legend Ernie Banks, Billboard.com reports. The track features lines like "Our heroes wear pinstripes / pinstripes in blue / give us a chance to feel like heroes too." It was recorded last month during Cubs fan Vedder's solo concert at Auditorium Theatre, according to Billboard.com. The song will be available for downloading in the next few days, according to Pearl Jam's Web site, and may also be sold on CD and "souvenir 45 singles."

How Pathetic! Eddie, I've got news for ya. The Cubs are the Most Over Rated, Over Hyped Novelty Team in American Sports History. The Lovable Losers! There is Nothing "Fun or Cute" about them. They are the Ultimate Losers(Chokers).
Most of their fans are arrogant over-served crybabies. They feel they have a sense of entitlement. Like a World Series title is Owed them, because they are the "Cubbies". Cub fans have a warped sense of reality.
Wrigley Field is Old decrepit mausoleum that wreaks of Urine. Being a Cub Fan is like being a Tortured P.O.W. I do not feel one bit sorry for any Cub fan. They truly are THE WORST FANS in baseball, just like Marty Brennaman & Jeff Brantley said. The upcoming 2008 Choke will Trump the 2003 Choke. I can't wait to see how they **** it up this year. Somebody give Bartman free tickets! Good Riddance '08 Cubs

Let's see, Eddie is originally from San Diego, and he came to prominence is Seattle. I'm wondering why he wouldn't write a song for either of those teams. What's next? Scott Weiland writing a song for the Royals? Jerry Cantrell penning a ditty for the Nationals?

According to wikipedia, Eddie's family moved to San Diego in the mid-70's. That would have made him 10 or 11. If you want to call that grown up, okay then.

Sorry I didn't know every little detail of dude's life, fanzie. The n00b shot was not necessary. Please don't go home and pray to your Eddie shrine for my certain death. I apologize...

He already wrote a song for the Brewers a few years back call Rearviewmirror!

Well played..............

Let's just hope that this Cub's song is better than his, er, re-write of "Take Me Out to the Ballgame". I'd post some of his sample lyrics, but they won't get past the obscenity filter.

Well...here's the excuse Cubs fans will use when Manny lights up Zambrano, Dumpster, and the other pitchers for the Cubs. First there was Bartman, now there is Vedder.

Baby Bears...enjoy another year of not winning a playoff game...but hey, at least you will have had the best record in MLB for the regular season.

September 19, 2008  12:49 PM ET

At least they will be there while the Brew Crew starts their vacation early......again!

September 19, 2008  12:58 PM ET

blah blah blah - same comeback from last year. You won the same number of playoff games as all the other teams that didn't make the playoffs...not much of a difference.

Seriously - have fun watching Manny put on a hitting clinic.
But hey - you'll be favorites again in 2009...so you have that going for you, which is nice.
