Injured Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling said former teammate Manny Ramirez's behavior in Boston was a drain on his teammates and disrespectful to manager Terry Francona. Speaking on a Boston radio station Wednesday, Schilling said Ramirez's "level of disrespect to teammates and people was unfathomable." Although he was the first Red Sox World Series MVP in franchise history, Ramirez caused more than his share of problems, with trade demands and nagging or phantom injuries that led him to ask out of the lineup. Schilling, who is close friends with Francona, said the manager had to play Ramirez because of his talent but it undermined the team's unity.

For once Schilling is not bloviating.... well, he is a little.... but at least it's factual this time.... in the psycho soccer world, the fans would have torn Manny limb from limb and thrown his corpse off a bridge....

September 19, 2008  08:02 AM ET

Wonder if he ever said this to Manny's face before he left? I mean, why now? What's done is done ... talk about beating a dead horse!

September 19, 2008  08:21 AM ET

I hope whatever team signs him next season gets the Manny of the last month for the Red Sox. Buyer beware.

September 19, 2008  08:32 AM ET

fitting...........

September 19, 2008  08:37 AM ET

Wow... Never saw this coming. I guess I should only be suprised it took this long for Schilling to start running his mouth on the topic...

September 19, 2008  09:03 AM ET

Alright now Red Sox yall got wat you wanted Manny is gone, but schilling is trying to keep Manny's distractions fresh. Schilling you may b a veteran and i respect you for that, but shut up. yall were complaining about Manny's distractions and now you are making more of them have yall given up on the pennet race because if you haven't you sound like your focusing more on Manny who has been gone for awhile than your race.

Thats just Curt being Curt.

Cant this washed up has-been fade off into oblivious or find someone elses coat tails to ride.

September 19, 2008  09:08 AM ET

hey Schill ?
shhhhhhh

we dont care in Boston anymore. He's gone, move on

September 19, 2008  09:24 AM ET

I find it funny that everyone leaving Boston complains how bad they were treated. If memory serves me correctly didn't shilling complain about them to because they hadn't resigned him? Please I'd blame the guy that's no longer as well as he doesn't have the guts to complain about the ownership that is the actual problem. Management has allowed Manny to be Manny and embraced him, then when he does something as over the top as ask publicly if he was going to have his option picked up they get all mad. Then they act surprised that he got mad back. Allow a dog to pee in the house once they'll do it over and over. Schilling needs to stop running his mouth and pitch to earn the damn money or retire and leave us all alone. Its funny that these athletes think that they can tell us what to think. Manny is a ball player-no more no less.

This is just Schilling's way of tyring to stay relavent. I am big Yankee fan, but have major respect for the way the Red Sox have giving it to the Yankees since 2004, but the one guy on the Red Sox who doesn't deserve it, is Kurt Schilling. He preechs how much he hates the Yankees and the way they operate, when all he was, was a hired gun himself. He never suffered with the Red Sox like some of the other guys on the team. He is a band-wagon jumper to the highest degree, and to see the Red Sox play well without him actually makes me feel good. I hope next time he opens his Mouth someone sticks a foot in it.

September 19, 2008  09:42 AM ET

As a die hard Red Sox fan I'd have to say that it is Schilling who has been the most disruptive, disrespectful and loud mouth antagonist player on the Sox roster who is continually running his mouth at the most inappropriate times - Oh, excuse me, Schilling is NOT on the Sox roster this year although he continues to take $8,000,000 from the Sox for doing nothing except shoot off his mouth.

For Schiliing to take unprovoked broadsides at one of Boston's most beloved players and a player who has done more than anyone else to bring two championships to Boston, Schilling ought to crawl back into the weasel hole he slinked out of and just fade away into oblivion.

Schiling sucks...he should pull his bottom lip over his head and swallow... As a Yankee fan I have the utmost respect for the Red Sox and how well they have done the past few years but I have no respect for this moron. He sheds a bad light on the entire organization.

Slink, as much as Manny being Manny you cant argue the impact he has had on ever team he has been on. He took your beloved Indians to the World Series and then he was a major player in Boston winning not one but two WS.

September 19, 2008  10:08 AM ET

STFU Curt. Francona had to play him because of his talent? First World Series MVP in the history of the Franchise? Come on Curt, I know Manny is immature and some other goofy problems, But he carried your team offensively during that time. Was Manny right with what he did, no of course not, but this all started when Manny just wanted to know where he stood with the red sox, it was mid year but his question was as far as after the season, (options) was concerned but after that question, it was like, yeah you were instrumental in us finally being successful, but we don't need you now, so STFU. Manny did what he thought he had to do in response, be it wrong. He's doing pretty good right now in LA ain't he? Hitting around 400 since going there, Dodgers good chance of making the post season with him? People just love him there. Yeah, yeah, I know good riddance.

No doubt, Ghetto. In fact, since he's been with the Indians, he's been one of my favorite players if not my favorite. However, to say that he did "more than anyone else to bring two championships to Boston?" That's going too far. There are a lot of players on baseball teams, management, front office, et ecetera. I'm a Red Sox fan, too, so I'm psyched that they won, but a lot of players did a whole lot to win those and I don't think it's fair to say that anyone of them did "more" than the others. Keith Foulke jeopardized his career, Schilling, for all his faults went through, what, five surgeries for that first title?

September 19, 2008  10:15 AM ET

"He was very kind, and well-mannered, but there were spurts and times when you didn't know who he was," Schilling said. "You know, he was always kind and nice for the most part, but he'd show up the next day and say, I'm through with this team, I want out now.' "

Sounds like PMS

September 19, 2008  10:16 AM ET

Boston fans can be retarded. They crap on Schilling, they crap on Foulke when they both went through the friggin' wringer in 2004. So Schilling talks too much, so what if Foulke doesn't care what Johnny from Burger King thinks -- Manny often acts like an **** and completely raped the Red Sox this season out of a contract that he signed.

I like all three of them and they all went to the mattresses for the Sox in '04.

September 19, 2008  10:17 AM ET

Schilling is a blowhard forced into retirement by injuries, and the only way he can get any attention now is to try to raise a fuss about an ex-player. Where was he in July when Manny really WAS disrupting his team? Curt's the kind of jerk who gets up every morning and tells you what the weather was yesterday.
