Flyers want to deal No. 2 pick

General manager Paul Holmgren seems to be leaning toward entertaining offers to trade the Flyers' No. 2 overall pick. That would still leave the Flyers with the No. 23 pick, which they obtained from Nashville in the Peter Forsberg trade, in the first round. Holmgren said if the Flyers traded the No. 2 pick, they would probably retain their second pick in the first round. This year's draft is considered weak, with no one in the first round rated as an immediate impact player.

I really hope someone from this draft blossoms big. You really never know
who's gonna be good or not. We've been spoiled with Ovechkins and MVP types for a few years now and I think with that said Philly would make good by trading the pick for a proven commodity to help boost what I believe is a quick righting of the ship in Philly. Hats off to Holmgren for doing a responsible job.

Flyers should trade this pick for some immediate help on the wing and other young talent. I will not mind if they use the pick I just think they will get more value in a trade.

Is it just me, or does Holmgren look like Marv from Sin City?

They won't trade another first rounder..., not with Hartnell and Timmonen coming in.

Do not trade the #2 pick. Trade Pitkanen for one of Edmonton's two higher picks. Either #6 or #12.....get the youth movement in full swing now.

Then go get Vanek and Gomez....and this team will be set.

I'm with you Philly Mike. Keep the 2nd pick and hope the Hawks select Kane and take Turris and two years from now you will have a guy who could be an all star for 10 years. That's how good I think he can be.

I agree with you on the Edmonton deal as well. Trade Pittkanen and try to acquire Lupul or Torres and try to get the 6th pick in the draft. If we have to use Umberger to get the 6th, do it and take Ellerby.
