Jerry Jones rips Hochuli & crew

07:38 AM ET 09.20 | It hasn't been an easy week for NFL official Ed Hochuli, whose inadvertent whistle cost San Diego a win at Denver on Sunday, and Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones added to the heat Friday. On his weekly radio show on KTCK-AM 1310 (The Ticket), Jones said Hochuli "is quick to the draw" on throwing flags. "His crew calls a lot of penalties," Jones said. "Maybe the answer is to tell people like that, 'Keep that whistle out of your mouth.'" Jones said the league does not want a penalty called unless the infraction affects the play or threatens player safety. "My gut here is the emphasis is going to have to be taking officials like that and getting somebody else if they're going to be penalty prone," Jones said. "Or, in that case, not penalties, but just too quick to call the play dead."

Here you go....who cares what this pulled skin potatoe face says about anything other than his own vanity. Looks like a friggin lizard or some sorta alien.

Hochuli is one of the best refs in the league. And yeah, Jones is butt ugly. What the heck happened to him? It looks like he's got all his face skin tied in a knot behind his head. What's with that?

September 20, 2008  08:16 AM ET

wonder if the nfl will fine jerry.

September 20, 2008  08:17 AM ET

Skeletor should be happy at some of the calls the refs "didn't" make against the Cowboys on MNF. I do however agree about calling plays dead though.

September 20, 2008  08:37 AM ET

I hope Hochulis' crew works the Cowboys-Packers game Sunday.

September 20, 2008  08:48 AM ET

Ever the opportunist, Jones takes his shot and kicks a man who is already down.

September 20, 2008  08:50 AM ET

That picture of Jines was taken right after he found out he missed the early bird senior special at Denny's.

September 20, 2008  09:07 AM ET

Thanks Jerry, I don't see the Cowboys getting the benefit of the doubt by any officiating crew the rest of the year. Can you say; holding? Remember, never piss off the person that cooks your food, signs your checks, or officiates your games!

In other news, Jerry will not be on Dancing with the Stars, instead he will be featured on Nip/Tuck.

September 20, 2008  09:09 AM ET

Sounds like Jones is carrying a grudge against the guy for his own teams past failures.....

September 20, 2008  09:11 AM ET

Can't help but think ol' leather face jerry has a personal grudge against ed. It wont do him any good because good refs with experiance dont "grow on trees"as they say.

Ed may call more penalties than he should, but the leauge can address that as well as the flawed rule that caused all of this.

September 20, 2008  09:17 AM ET

he does throw a lot of flags

September 20, 2008  09:34 AM ET

I'm not so much worried about the amount of penalty flags thrown more than the ones that are thrown at the slightest provocation of a penalty. Regarding MMF and that blatantly wrong defensive interference call, all the ref saw was a defender bumping into the receiver because he was behind him. The flag comes out right away. Can't see the fact that the receiver pulled the defender into him. A little bit of tomfoolery by the receiver and, well, he got away with it. However, these days, every time the ball goes up in the air for a long pass we fans collectively hold our breaths and the first thing we look for, the FIRST THING, is a yellow flag.

And, frankly, it sounds like a lot of you have personal grudge against Jerry Jones. Pitiful.

And, once again, Bond weighs in with relevance to the topic at hand. Fine argument Bond. Well thought out and concise. You hit every major topic point. Can't wait for your next thesis.

There were a lot of missed penalties on both sides Ray. But, how bout them Cowboys? See you in Dallas next week!! Gonna be fun.

He has 3 Super Bowl rings and is the owner of the most expensive sports franchise in history. I think he has earned the right to say what he wants.

September 20, 2008  09:45 AM ET

Him and Robert Kraft.

September 20, 2008  09:48 AM ET

I think Jerry should worry about his team and the dozens of security people he needs to assign to his players so they stay out trouble.

Old news Darrell. Very old news. Try and stay topical like, if your skins can even make the post season. See you in Dallas next week. Hee hee!!!

September 20, 2008  09:52 AM ET

How are the ratings on his radio show. Was there nothing related to his team going on interesting enough where he had to drag up week old news?

September 20, 2008  09:57 AM ET

Not a huge fan of "Skeletor" but in the case of penalties that do NOT affect the play, those kill me. IMHO the Ref(s) should talk to the player and say, "OK, that was a freebie, next one the flag flys" Sure it is not foolproof but I hate those "automatic firstdowns" and the like when the action had absolutely no bearing on something 35 yrds away
