Gordon supported Earnhardt move
Jeff Gordon was in on the secret all along. Privately he listened to team owner Rick Hendrick agonize over the arduous, closed-door maneuvering to sign Dale Earnhardt Jr. Gordon didn't waver. "I was very supportive of it from the beginning," he said. On the other hand, reigning Nextel Cup Jimmie Johnson, the other resident star at Hendrick, "really was surprised," Johnson said, when he learned of the blockbuster signing just before it was announced Wednesday.

I'm not surprised by this at all. Gordon is an equity partner with a lifetime contract at HMS. Johnson is a prominant employee.

Doesn't take much to surprise Johnson.....He said the same thing last year when his crew chief got suspended for cheating!

Well I have said this before and I will say it again. Its not a suprise to me that Jr signed on with Hendricks. Gordon has been a long time friend of the Earnhardt family and so has Rick Hendrick. JJ is suprised because he was left out of things well too bad he is just Jeff's employee and not his partner like Rick is.
So ofcourse Jeff was in on the negotiations. I would not be suprised if Jr was the one who asked him to be apart of them. Jeff as noydbyj said is an equity partner with a lifetime contract at HMS.
JJ was supposed to be straight up Jeff Gordon Racing but when Jeff got divorced his wife sold her part of the team to Rick Hendrick. So in turn JJ became a HMS employee as well...but again JJ and Casey are just that employee's. So ofcourse they were left out.

Umm....not really. There's a very good possibility that he could be the 2-time defending champion come Daytona. Jr is 3rd in the pecking order, much to his fans chagrine.

The '07 season is not even over yet and team Hendricks is allready looking like a disfunctional family with three boys wanting all the attention and the best toys, whats gonna happen in '08.
I'm all for Jr. winning, even if it is in a Hendrick chevy, but I think it deffinatly will be interesting to see what happens next year.
I still think Johnson's a biach.

All I'm interested in now is what are the "Team Orders" gonna be when you end up with all four Hendricks drivers in position 1,2, 3, 4 at the end of a race,.....say Daytonna. The second thing is what number will Jr end up with once the green flag drops in 08? Oh and Jr. Nation Fan, what the heck is a "Biach?"

The only team orders at HMS are to not wreck each other.

Jeff Gordon MADE Hendrick Motorsports, much like Mark Martin made Roush....see the thing you guys don't understand about Gordon is that HE KNOWS he is a good driver, like Dale Sr....he doesn't waste him time creating Busch Series teams as an alternate form of income.....(like Jr...with the mediocre Shane Huffman)...... and I agree with noydbyj.........Hendrick will bring Junior to prominence...please read my other comment for details about that.......as a 25 year old that has been watching and attending races since 1988 :) yes...I was 7 years old the first time I went to the Mello Yello 500 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
