USC not leaving Pac 10

The joke answer is that USC ought to consider joining the NFC West because that way we could officially say pro football has returned to Los Angeles. There's no smoke to this fire. USC is stuck with the Pacific 10 Conference, just like the Pac-10 was stuck with USC all those years when Paul Hackett was coach. These things tend to go in cycles, and right now USC's is on "heavy load." The Pac-10, honestly, could not have had a worse two weeks if Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie were in charge.

This article may very well be the most pointless thing ever posted on FN.

USC is a NFL team in the college world!!!!!!!

Helen from Keller...although there are so many articles here that vie for "Most Pointless" moniker, you might be right. This one may take it.

They would have more than 1 BCS championship if that were the case.

September 20, 2008  12:09 PM ET

The only thing they have won since Norm Chow left is the Pac 10 and clearly that isn't very hard.

September 20, 2008  12:45 PM ET

Exspecially when they don't have a conference championship

September 20, 2008  12:50 PM ET

They would win the NFC West with no problems. Seriously..

September 20, 2008  12:50 PM ET

I wonder how much USC paid for this article?

Stupid article.

If you're OJ Mayo and Reggie Bush, I would say USC players..

The only thing more retarded than this article are the posters, trojan904 and jj730, who actually believe that kind of ridiculousness. The worst NFL team would bludgeon a college All-Star team...SERIOUSLY

Despite your feelings, suggesting that a college team could compete with an NFL team isn't even worth debating. It's just silly. It's worth mentioning here that I'm a huge fan of college football. As far as the NFL, I can take it or leave it.

BTW, I thought my made-up word fit the absurd tone of the discussion.

USC had 10 players drafted last year. 4 in the 1st rd. They have a high level of talent. No one is saying they could beat the Giants, Colts, Pats, etc. But, if you don't think they could beat the Rams and teams like the Chiefs, you are wrong. Matt Cassell is a starting QB for a team that went 18-1...and he never started at USC. That should tell you the talent that they have.

September 20, 2008  01:44 PM ET

Never would a college team beat an NFL team. The NFL is composed of the very best of all the colleges. USC is composed of "some" of the best of high schools. That is a stupid discussion and really not worth even arguing about.

September 20, 2008  01:45 PM ET

Was Matt Cassell ready to lead an NFL team the season following his final year at USC? Using the case of Matt Cassell to illustrate your point here is tempting, but it doesn't hold up under close examination. Cassell had 3 years to learn the ropes from one of the best in the business. He would have failed miserably had he been thrown into the starting role in his rookie season.

Oh, and i'M StEvIe, ridiculousness IS a word, but you did make me doubt myself there for a minute.

What makes them the best? Because you are a year older than some college player? If you put the BEST college football team, and played them against the WORST NFL team and they played say 5 times? You mean to tell me, the college team would never win a game? If the Rams played USC 5 times, I would have faith that USC could win atleast once.
