Kennedy responds after trade request

One day after confirming that he had asked to be traded, Adam Kennedy went 4 for 5 Friday with a grand slam and five RBIs as the Cardinals beat the Cubs 12-6 at Wrigley Field. Convinced that manager Tony La Russa no longer considers him an everyday player, Kennedy has asked that the club trade him rather than bring him back for the final installment of his three-year, $10 million contract. Kennedy's spotty playing time has eroded since the Aug. 6 acquisition of veteran infielder Felipe Lopez, a pending free agent whom the club has considered retaining for next season. Lopez, considered an offensive upgrade, has made 11 of his 28 starts at second base. Switch-hitter Aaron Miles also has appeared regularly at the position.

If there is a GM that was watching last nite that needs a 2B, you may have found your player. I respect his decision and don't necessarily blame him for wanting to play everyday.

Brewers should take note. Time to replace weeks!

One great game doesn't make up for 2 years of inconsistent lack of production. If the Brewers or anyone else wants him....I'm sure Mozeliak will listen. Kennedy is the consumate professional, but his lack of production has really hurt the Cardinals the last two years.

Brewers should pick him up.
