Paul Molitor, a St. Paul native who played most of his hall of fame career in Milwaukee and is a special assistant for the Twins, would seem a natural pick as the Brewers' next manager.

Can he get them not to melt down at the end of there seasons? Only time will tell.

I love Molitor, but it seems to be a tall order for anyone to get this team to play even .500 ball in the latter part of the season.

... or their (there??) seasons either!

I would absolutely be a good PR move and a popular decision in Milwaukee. I doubt that Svuem will get a chance, but I'd like to see them retain him for 2009.

What's the story here? That Molitor "would seem a natural pick" as Brewers manager according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press? No kidding! How 'bout finding out if he or the brewers have any interest in each other?

I've watched the Brewers for 28 years and been a season ticket holder for 12. What the Brewers need is a more experienced manager to 'take them to the next level'. Yost was good for a few years to help build the Brewers up but he couldn't take them to the next level of making the playoffs (i.e. see last 2 years). I don't think Molitor's the right choice. The Brewers made good PR moves with no results for years. It's time to get a manager experienced in managing in the playoffs...and more hard nosed. Yost was too good with the players....if they don't perform, they shouldn't play.

Molitor is an OK choice. They need someone who is really experienced and we need the person with the best chance of getting us to the playoffs.

buyers beware... it doesn't always work out the way you think it will.. take a long at the mess the yankee's are in this year.

Saying now who will be best to lead the team is a little bit of putting th cart before the horse. It is undeniable that the Brewers have a nice stable of young players who can perform, but they are about to lose their #1 and 2 starters, they're undoubtedly going to be trading Fielder for the best package offered, and they are going to be facing the daunting task of trying to build a bullpen with no clearly dependable set-up guys or closer in-house. This is a team, in the best possible case, that will enter 2009 with less power and no clear ace. They are a team that will be rebuilding... regardless how the Selig Kool Aid drinkers want to spin it. Can Paul Molitor rebuild an organization with relatively modest payroll and a lot of holes? Who knows?!? But if he is being considered, it should be because he is a qualified leader and motivator, not because he's willing and a Hall of Fame Brewer. Personally, I think a good bat/bad glove IF is not the best role model for a team with a host of defensive problems and streaky bats. I would be Molitor's biggest supporter if he was being considered for hitting coach. There might not be any better for that.
