Weis tries to explain illegal laptop
There was a minor kerfuffle over a laptop in the Notre Dame coaching box during Saturday's 23-7 loss to Michigan State. According to a Michigan State spokesman, the Spartans' coaching staff noted a laptop in the Irish's coaching box during the first half Saturday. That would be a violation of NCAA rules -- no laptops or computer monitors allowed in coaching boxes during a game. The offending electronic equipment was removed in the second quarter, according to the Michigan State spokesman, who said that the laptop did belong to Notre Dame. Irish coach Charlie Weis said there was no malicious intent. "What happened, there was a laptop or something in the box," Weis said. "(The officials) came over and asked me about it, so I asked upstairs if there was one. I was talking to (offensive coordinator) Michael (Haywood) and he said no. Then I guess one of the interns had one, so then I immediately told those guys that there was an intern that took it off the ledge and put it on the floor. "It wasn't like somebody was trying to do something illegal. And I made sure I let them know that at halftime walking in, that that was the case. Because the last thing I want to ever do is lie."

When Weis was hired and said he had a decided schematic advantage. That was code for CHEATING just like he did when with the Patriots. The very convoluted explanation of this is clear that ND was trying to cheat. If Weis was smart, he would have hid it under his belly. No one WOULD have ever noticed it.

Weis trying to cheat? With all the success that Weis has had at ND with his stellar few seasons why would Weis even want to try and cheat? Just having him on the field gives ND a decided schematic advantage over everyone.

He does comes from a Pats organization with a less than stellar record on cheating...
The more alarming thing should be how bad they looked yesterday. It was men vs. boys.
The coaches exemplify the differences in the programs. MSU represents hard work and discipline, while ND represents this idea that just being part of ND will make everyone special... doesn't work that way.
ND has been a disgrace the past few years. Where is the pride? The hunger? The fans have even gotten restless and unclassy. This is not the Notre Dame program I used to have so much respect for. MSU, in the mean time, has gained mine. They might not win every game, but they do it the right way.
Nice win Green!

Isn't winning a birth right for those who go to ND?

Rumor is the laptop had a "How To Stop Javon Ringer" file.
No wait ... you CAN'T stop Javon Ringer!

Maybe the Irish should worry about running for yards instead of running with Kylobytes.
To come to think about it, maybe you do need it...

Hey biminator, maybe I should be a soar loser like you and say ND gave MSU the game with their turnovers! No, MSU is a good team that I have respect for (unlike Michigan only because of their whiny looser coach) and they deserved the win. I've said it before, ND has the talent but their offensive line cannot block on run plays.

i am sure he has learn cheating from the master.... (in New England) but i think the laptop had a map of all charlies favorite places to eat, how much he wanted off the menu and when to pick it up.. after all isn't that what interns do...

Agree. Michigan State = good team, and they played in such a way that left no doubt that they were the better team. ND has yet to play that way in any of their first three games.
Also, if you think the primary problem is that the line can't block on run plays, you must have missed all the interceptions Pickle boy has thrown, and a your run defense that looks like Madden on "rookie".

Pickle boy...I mean Clausen...has thrown interceptions because he is put in situations where he has to throw and after all he is only a sophomore and will make mistakes. Because the line is not blowing the defense back and creating holes for runners, the defense can defend the pass better because the run is not a threat. He is making some nice completions and touch down passes and some of these are at critical times so there is no need to worry about him, he will only get better.
ND's run defense does need some work but Ringer is a hell of a running back.

Weis has to cheat........that is obviously how he was taught in New England by Belicheat

Why is it against the rules to have a laptop? With so much stuff being done digitally, it seems silly to have coaches in the box with laminated pieces of paper. If one is trying to steal signs, then all you need is a video camera, not a laptop.

That will certainly be an interesting game. Even if the Spartans lose a few of the big ten games they are expected to, I think they really need to upset a few, and get wins against teams they should beat like UM and ND. With their new coach, I think its only a matter of time before they are back to being a perennial force.

Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain....or the laptop in the booth!
Ringer's a nice player, but unstoppable? He had only 81 yards (in 27 carries) versus Cal. 135 yards in 34 carries against lowly Easter Michigan. Had a ton of carries and yards against pathetic Florida Atlantic and 39 carries and 201 yards against the Domers. Lot's of carries versus some pretty bad teams...where's the passing? It will be a surprise if Ringer can keep up this pace without getting hurt.

I don't think Ty is chuckling, especially since he is about to lose his job for the same reasons ND threw his sorry butt out the door. Donors are pledging money to Washington, if they fire Ty.
Other than that it's the same postings about ND. Charlie is fat, Charlie cheats, ND sucks. MSU was obviously the better team, but why didn't they put more points on the board? ND is still along way from being back, but they are making strides. I know, let's talk about Penn State playing three patsies to start the season, racking up points on all three, and JoePA coaching from the press box. Oh wait, didn't Charlie catch all kinds of crap when he suggested the same? And JoePA only has a "sore" leg. BS, Joe needs to be near a toilet!
