Marlins players critical of team
Barring playoffs, several will play their final home game in a Marlins uniform Sunday, including Kevin Gregg and potentially Mike Jacobs, Scott Olsen and others. ''It's an organization that doesn't want to spend the money,'' Gregg bemoaned. Josh Willingham said he has a ''feeling I'll be back.'' Dan Uggla doesn't think the fact he's a ''streaky guy'' should be held against him: ``I am who I am. I helped out a lot in May and June.''

The Marlins front office is one of the best in baseball for evaluating talent. But a Major League baseball team cannot survive in Florida. The only way to keep this team and the Rays viable is to move them out of Florida ASAP.
The NY/NJ Metro area could easily support a third team (especially when you look at the prices the Mets and Yankees are charging for 09) and either Vegas, Texas, or even Mexico could support one.

Mexico City might be a very wise move. A major league team in Central America would be a gold mine.

Over the dead bodies of little Hank and Jr. Steinbrenner and Fred Wilpon. Never happen in a million years.

Yes, this year the Rays are having a story book season and the Marlins have won two WS. But for the most part, these have been horrible franchises playing in terrible stadiums. Don't blame the bad attendance on the Florida fans.

the Marlins need fans to survive. To have fan that support the team, you have to be good to the fans. It isn't only the championship. If you win it, you don't get fan support by selling your best players and starting again. You have to maintain a basis to keep a good team and have a successful season. They won't make it with a new stadium and new players!

I agree with CardsFan2. We've tried two teams in Canada, now let's look in the other direction.

Looking at all the talent in Florida, and the fantastic (considering payroll) performance this year, the Marlins really excel in some areas. However it's nowhere near enough to make up for their ridiculously frugal policies

There are simply too many teams in major league baseball. The rosters are watered down and littered with players who are not major league caliber.
But, as we all know, money talks. Everyone is a **** for money, and as long as the revenues pour in, no major changes will be made. Bud Selig is a joke.
The ideal number of teams is 24.

REALLY??? Is this why the Marlins are building a $700 Million dollar retractable roof stadium? Sounds like Jeff Loria knows something you don't!! I believe the Rays are also building a new stadium as well.

This comment by Dan Uggla just doesn't make sense. Does this mean he was given April, July, August and September off? I need a job like his. Work two months and get paid for six months.

LOL, i can't believe Uggla actually said that lol. Like he's okay with it. I think they'll get more than he's worth somewhere and we'll all be happy when andino establishes himself as the 2nd baseman of the future. Mike Jacobs actually had a decent year but to be honest, after this year, he's worth an awful lot and the marlins have a great prospect in Gaby Hernandez. If i were the marlins though, I'd do what they did with luis gonzalez and sign a veteran pitcher who can help develop the young staff. Oh and the Marlins should definitely keep Cantu around.
