NASCAR fires officials named in harassment suit

NASCAR has fired two officials who had been suspended during an internal investigation into claims made in a $225 million racial discrimination and sexual harassment lawsuit against stock car racing's sanctioning body. Tim Knox and Bud Moore were fired last week, NASCAR spokesman Ramsey Potson said. He declined to discuss the reasons for their dismissal before Sunday's race at Dover International Speedway. Knox and Moore are accused in Mauricia Grant's lawsuit of exposing themselves to her, and making graphic and lewd jokes. She worked as a technical inspector for NASCAR's second-tier Nationwide Series from January 2005 through her October 2007 firing. NASCAR had placed Knox and Moore on indefinite paid administrative leave in June as it investigated her claims. Grant, who is black, filed suit earlier that month alleging 23 specific incidents of sexual harassment and 34 specific incidents of racial and gender discrimination during the two-plus years she worked for NASCAR. Her suit alleges she was fired as retaliation for complaining to her superiors about the way she was treated by co-workers. Potson said NASCAR has concluded its internal investigation into the lawsuit. NASCAR has denied any wrongdoing.

Who knew that whipping out the pocket python could be a career decision? I hope she gets every cent if these creeps are indeed guilty.

Yeah..because her pain/suffering was worth all that..(riiiiiiiiiigggghttt). If they are guilty (and they were fired..so speculate all youw ant)...then compensation is due..but $225M?? Give her $10mil and she'll be just fine I'm sure.........

I agree svt, it looks a lot like admitting guilt to me. NASCAR fired these guys for their bad behavior (even if NASCAR won't admit it), she is suing over their bad behavior. France and the b'hoys could be in deep stuff this time.

Perhaps wrong....sponsors and fans will have to ante up. Heard Bruton showed the python but was mistaken for a discarded Twizzler.

These firing are nothing more than NASCAR getting it's ducks in line for the "real issues" to be contested in the lawsuit. It is apparent both sides agree that the two former officials did, in fact," conduct themselves inappropriately and exposed themselves. Now they can move on to a settlement amount or just drag this entire lawsuit out for years until the plantiff croakes or an agreeable figure comes across the table. And if that ever happens, we'll never know how much NASCAR actually had to pay.

Nascar said these boys were fired after they exposed themselves but failed to fit the template.
