Wake Forest recruits Florida well

As soon as coach Jim Grobe arrived at Wake Forest eight years ago, he circled North Carolina as the logical place to start recruiting. But a key to his success has been where he and his staff have headed next. "We typically work south," Grobe said. Georgia has been good to the Demon Deacons. Florida has been very good to the Demon Deacons. This year, there are 26 Florida natives on the roster, which is the most among Division I-A teams that aren't found in Florida. That includes three starters from Pahokee High, CB Alphonso Smith, DE Antonio Wilson and WR D.J. Boldin.

WF's defense certainly got the job done against the Noles on Sat night.......of course, the Noles offense being completely stagnant also helped. :-)

So it appears Florida has another Div I school

Well you beat Florida State the last three years that would serve notice to some Florida high school students.

Anyway this article serves little purpose except to point out that Florida high schools have talent.

There's enough HS talent in Florida to take care of about a dozen schools... not so much in NC, especially when you consider the number of Colleges that state has.

I am very impressed with what Coach Grobe has done at Wake Forest. Congrats to them.

North Carolina has PLENTY of high school football talent. I don't know what that one dude is talking about. He's from South Carolina where your best players now all go to Georgia! Seriously, there are ONLY two big schools in SC, in NC there are 5+Appalachian, and now UNCC is starting a football program too! UNC-Pembroke is picking up players who are overlooked down east and building a great program, and ECU, NCSU, UNC, and even WFU have tons of players from NC. What are you talking about????

I would like to personally thank Wake Forest for trying so hard to give us the game on Saturday. Unfortunately, we're not worthy of their gift and so we refused to take it.

All kidding aside, props to Coach Grobe for the outstanding job he's doing at one of the smallest schools in D-1. My hat's off to the Demon Deacons. They stuck it to us...again.

Looks like its paying off

Grobe and his staff are to be commended, not only for winning games on the field, but also for learning how to recruit to WFU. FSU, UF, Miami, Georgia and others still get the pick of the lot of FL players. UNC and NCSU still get the most high visibility players in NC. But, WFU has learned how to get good student athletes to come to Winston-Salem. It's not always an easy sell!
