Will Hawks steal Flyers' pick?
Even before the NHL's Central Scouting department ranked Kyle Turris as the No. 1 prospect in this year's draft, the Flyers had their sights set on the gifted 18-year-old center from New Westminster, British Columbia. The biggest question heading into Friday's NHL draft is whether the Chicago Blackhawks are just as interested in Turris.

Tallon has the pressure on him. He's not sure what to do with this pick. He has to make the safe pick, so he figures if Flyers want Turris, maybe I should select him instead of Kane. As a Flyers fan, I'd be happy with either player, but If Flyers select Kane, I hope he doesn't wear #88.

Agree 100% the Flyers should unofficially retire that number and not let any player wear that....for the players own good. Too many bad memories for Flyers Fans.

According to TSN the Flyers just signed Hartnell and Timmonen from Nashville. Apparently they acquired exclusive rights to negotiate with both players by giving back the first rounder they got from Nashville. Wow!

BobD is right Tallon's got a ton of pressure on him now. I personally think Turris will be the cream that rises to the top in 2-3 years. But,with that said the Hawks need goals and some believe Kane is ready for the jump and I still think Tallon will pick him. I don't think he's ready but the Hawks can use all the help he can get.

Tallon is under prussure because Wirtz has that team all F'ed up! The Hawks will never be the same until Wirtz is gone!

Getting Hartnell and Timmonen cost the Flyers around $11 million..., Hartnell's a good player and Timmonen's a leader on defense. Chicago's going nowhere..., Tallon's going for 'right now' and that could be Kane.

How can the Hawks still something the Flyers don't have? For better or for worse the Hawks do have the first pick overall. That means they can take anybody they wish. Sorry! No stealing here. Just dumb luck (if the process is not fixed). Not that it matters, though. As long as "Cheap" Bill Wirtz is the owner, it makes no difference whom they pick, the Hawks are going nowhere!

BearsFan85, you probably meant, "The Hawks will always be the same (losers) until Wirtz is gone." That is a fact. Wirtz is stuck way back in the '50s!

I think Paul Holmgren is getting the hang of this New-era NHL thing. The moves he's made in the last 6 months have completely transformed this team from Broad Street Bullies with lugging speed to a team that plays defense and offense with speed and grit.
Great job on getting Timmonen signed before letting him hit the free agent market. They improved their winger situation with Hartnell now on board. Now on to Gomez. Two thumbs up to Paul Holmgren.
Turris or Kane.....does it really matter? No one in this draft is an impact player for this league next year. Grab the bext available and develop him the right way. No pressure let the kid come in here and play his game for the city of Philadelphia in due time.

I am not so entirely sure that Wirtz is so cheap as he gets crappy advice ( assuming that he knows nothing of hockey) -- there is a long long list of free agent signings (and some pretty bad trades) that by far the majority of them never work out - usually for an on the way out veteran (this goes back at least through the 1990's) -- anyone remember Tonelli, Coffey, Clark, Aucoin,... the only one I think that ever really worked that well was Bernie Nicholls. Wirtz is an entirely different degree of incompetent when he consults his favorite yesman -Pulford...
I don't understand how a team with the first overall pick can actually steal the choice of the second overall's pick - isn't that the point of picking first? Now if the problem is with the lottery system, then that is something entirely different.
FYI- maybe stuck in the 60's - couldn't be the 50's -as the Hawks stunk then too... I used to have a theory that Wirtzie wanted a team just good enough to sneak into the playoffs where they might get lucky and advance (like they did a few times in the 80's with the 4th best record in the Norris Division) a round or two - so that he could get a few more (playoff inflated) gates along with the beer/concession sales that go along with that... it worked then - but then again - then there were only 5 non-playoff teams- and in the Norris -there was only 1 non-playoff team (usually Detroit or Toronto - of course that isn't the case now..)
Anyway, I doubt that any of the 3 guys the Hawks are reportedly looking at will mean much this season - no matter what the Hawk's front office may be dreaming. Also, while Semenov might have been a decent pick up- he isn't much of a two way player either ... I guess you have to take a shot, and they didn't give up anything really for the guy. I would not be shocked if he is another bust, though.

Er Samsonov -not Semenov -- I blame hockey video games and trading modes on that gaff :/
