Yount, players want Brewers to keep Sveum
Both franchise icon Robin Yount and Brewers players want Dale Sveum to be retained as manager for next year and beyond. It's my understanding that Sveum and what's left of the coaching staff won't be retained if the Brewers don't win the NL wild card, which won't be easy at this point. But Yount and the players think Sveum is the man for the job. Though it stunned many when Ned Yost was fired, the angst was soothed somewhat when Sveum was tabbed to finish the season.

The Brewers are not gonna get the wild-card. The Mets will get the wild-card.

Bond, what have the Mets shown you this week that makes you think they'll win the wild card?
I didn't think it was possible for this team to play as poorly as they have......

Ned Yost was to the Brewers as Clint Hurdle is to the Rockies. It's called a stop-gap manager till the team can be good. Sorry Rox fans but it's true.

It is not so much what the Mets have shown me, it is what I know about the Brewers...

The problem is nobody wants Weeks to start because he's terrible.

We start Fielder because he can actually hit. Weeks is a terrible leadoff hitter. Not that Cameron is much better, but Weeks is hitting under .240 for a reason. At least Fielder hovers around .270-.280 and can contribute 35 home runs a season. Use some common sense.
And I'm not putting all the blame on Ned Yost. Jim Skalaan deserves some blame too. The problem is, Yost was a crappy manager. He kept pitchers in way too long, made stupid matchup based pinch hitting decisions, used cold relievers while others were hot, but he did his job. He made the Brewers into contenders. Now, we need a manager who can actually coach a winning team. We needed to fire Yost eventually, as he was never the guy to get us to the next level. Not that Sveum is that guy necessarily, but I'm glad to finally see Yost gone.

are you serious????? if that's your logic, then ryan howard should be sitting since his fielding is just as bad as fielder's. weeks hasn't hit for average, sometimes for power and has had shakey fielding. prince at least hits 35+ HR and drives in 100+ runs.
as someone above said, use some common sense before making such a dumb statement.
svuem is finally teaching fundamentals. i think i saw more sacrafice bunts in last nights game that in yost's whole managing career. svuem at least knows how to use small ball.
he also noticed bush struggling right away last night and had someone up in the bullpen immediately. yost would have waited for bush to give up 5+ runs before even warming up the bullpen. yost was a lost cause as a manager for this team. the timing may not have been the greatest, but he had to go regardless.
