Mets to extend GM Minaya

06:27 AM ET 09.24 | The Mets appear close to announcing that general manager Omar Minaya will be signed to a four-year contract extension. The deal should be finalized after the season, a person with knowledge of the discussions told The Star-Ledger. The person requested anonymity because the team has not formally announced anything. There is no timetable when the Mets will make their decision public, or what the contract figures entail. Minaya was already under contract through the 2009 season.
