Second-guessing ticks off Ozzie

- White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen fired back at anyone who questioned his attempts at motivating Javier Vazquez and sticking with Ken Griffey Jr. in center field. "They don't know me. I don't know them," Guillen said Wednesday night using a vulgarity in response to those who thought he showed up his embattled pitcher. Guillen went on to say he has known Vazquez since he was young, knows his family very well and knows how to handle his embattled pitcher. "I just tried to say he has to be aggressive," Guillen said. "Is there something wrong with that, telling a pitcher he has to be aggressive? If somebody else said it, he's a genius. I say it and I'm down on my players." Guillen scoffed at a suggestion Brian Anderson should be playing center instead of the 38-year-old Griffey.

Shaky headed man be telling it like it is. F bomb. F bomb. F bomb. He be dropping the bombs. They will get to the ALCS and then implode like....a black hole.

No offense to Brother Ozzie here, cuz ima fan of his, but you usually get second-guessed when you make decision that don't turn out well. That's why it's called second-guessing. If he had made a good decision it would not have been second-guessed.

But that would require him to shut up, make good decisions and not lose to the freakin Twins when you're trying to win the division with 4 freakin games left.

Griff hasn't been all that (go figure), but at least Kenny didn't give up too much to get him. You know, the real problem exsists in the farm system. Kenny has basically depleted it, just Hawk Harrelson did. I like most of Kenny's moves, but come on. Even if the Sox do make the playoffs, they'll probably get swept by Rays b/c you can't rely on nothing but HRs and an iffy bullpeen.

I agre with all of you, but I disagree about farm, I like Broadway, Richard, Fields, Getz, and love Owens, guys remember Owens was very good last yr. for us, before you say is he crazy do me a favor look up his numbers from last yr. after he got called up the 2nd time he was great he had like 30sbs, hit over .300, now I know it was when the games meant nothing but he was consistant for last what 45 games, then he gets hurt in spring training, and when he is finally healthy we have, he gets of to slow start in minors, so Sox managment just totally says screw him he is staying in minors, when their biggest weakness all year was speed and defense, and Swisher was horrible I could care less about his homers, he has been a cancer all year, look at Twins centerfielder the kid has been there all year, making plays, stealing bases, but inconsistant with bat, but you know something they know what they got, well the Sox do not really know now do we need a centerfielder or is Owens our guy, because they never gave him a shot, and thats their biggest mistake they did not give him a chance, and its not like our centerfield position was our strongest point all year, they could have gotten away with developing him in majors, but they had to justify that huge mistake of trading Gio @ Sweeney for Swisher,

That has to be the longest sentence I have ever seen.

I am a big Ozzie fan, but enough is enough. How do the Twins keep winning in the Dome? They use pitching, defense, speed, and timely hitting. How do the Sox try to win? By putting old slow players out there to try to hit homeruns. I don't care if it is Anderson or Owens out in center, but they should be playing instead of Griffey. I don't care what he is doing at the plate, he is not even half as good as Anderson and Owens in the field. D. Wise? Give Owens the chance and he plays the same, or better than Wise does.
One Question for everyone, How do you believe in a team, when they don't even believe in themselves? The Sox just expect the Twins to give them the division. They are not going out there to take it and win. Playing not to lose is not how a playoff team should play.

September 25, 2008  08:59 AM ET

Um... azcardfan: You're some what right... If you want to look at numbers, Richard (2-5, 6.25era), Broadway (1-0, 7.43era), Getz (now there's some potential), Fields (.156 in 40ab's-though he is the 3B future -maybe he had 23hr's last year, but he hit .244), Owens (even last year he only had 22 BB's in 330+ AB's and a .267 avg)

Yeah maybe there is some future to these kids, but having 5 potential future pieces is nothing compared to the Twins, Indians, D-backs, A's, and so on. Though it is kind of funny that 1/2 of the A's and D-backs systems are former Sox farmhands.

Exactly! This team hasn't given up yet, but they sure as heck have looked lifeless at the plate, in the field and on the rubber.

How can anyone be a fan of Ozzie Guillen? Seriously. First of all the only words I understand are vulgar words out of his mouth. He's arrogant, loud, rude. I dont see how you could like this guy. He is my least favorite person in sports now that Warren Sapp has retired.

That sounds like the description of Lou Pinella.

Will somebody just kick in Ozzie's raisins and drag his carcass off the field? Enough of this moron already.

Dude wins..... just like Bobby Knight..... that's the whole story for coaches..... nice guy or jagoff, if you win, you have fans and keep your job..... lose and you're gone.... I don't think the White Sox fans mind Ozzie at all when they're in the playoff mix, which is something prior to Ozzie that NEVER happened..... if you want proof of this, see how popular Nick Saban is in Alabama.....

September 25, 2008  11:00 AM ET

Ozzie doesn't have to prove anything to anyone. So tonight your starting shortstop is Bobby Jenks, take that.
