Rockies GM wants Hurdle to change

General manager Dan O'Dowd isn't saying that who manages will change. But he made it clear Wednesday that Rockies manager Clint Hurdle needs to change how he does his job next year after the most disappointing season in club history. O'Dowd and Hurdle will meet in a few weeks for their annual season review, and how well Hurdle explains how he'll re-create the edge of his 2007 team might determine whether he remains the right man for the job. O'Dowd said he believes Hurdle is up to the challenge. Both Hurdle and O'Dowd agree that the Rockies failed in the simple execution of the game, whether it being throwing strikes, moving runners over or hitting with runners in scoring position. Colorado is 73-85 after Wednesday night's win. The challenge for Hurdle is to convince O'Dowd that he can get his team to play the right way again.

"Regain the edge" from 2007???? They were a medicore team at best until the last 30 games. So what he really wants is average baseball for 80% of the season and perfection for the last 20% of the season, because that's really what 2007 amounted to. Yeah, that's worked pretty well for the Astros the last 5 years...

Well if the manager stays he will have a big "Hurdle" to overcome !!!

No matter what anyone says what the Rocks did in 2007 was amazing and nothing should be taken from them. Do I think they were overrated going into 2008? YES, there is no way that Morales, Jimenez, Francis, Cook, Fogg, Herges, Fuentes, Corpas and every freaking pitcher on that staff was going to reciprocate what they did the second half of 2007 NO WAY. Are they still a good young team? of course. Can Hurdle help them win? NO, he has no managerial skills. Get me Vinny Castilla.......
