Lalich linked to Oregon State move

Ex-Virginia starting QB Peter Lalich is preparing to enroll at Oregon State and continue his career with Mike Riley's program. Lalich, who has Derek Anderson-type dimensions at 6-foot-5 and 225 pounds, is the sophomore who was kicked off Al Groh's Virginia team for two incidents involving alcohol. Lalich was arrested in July for underage possession of alcohol, then cited early this month for violating his probation (caught drinking again). It has also been alleged that Lalich smoked marijuana during his probation, but he has denied this.

So he'll join the Beavers in time to watch USC do the same thing to his new team as they did to his old. Only difference is: this time he won't get hit by Rey Maualuga.

Once again the NCAA provides a third chance.

Damn...

He probably did it so that he can ride the bench and not have to do anything on a mediocre team instead of take a beating on a terrible team. Plus, Oregon is closer to Canada. He can probably get good weed for cheaper.

The only way I give this punk a scholarship is if I'm drunk and stoned !!!

A young kid in school away from home gets caught with alcohol. Not a big deal. I think we face bigger problems than this in our country and worldwide today. He has already been punished by having his face and name published nationwide. People need to get on with their own lives.

I believe the story mentioned "two incidents "!!! Like the old saying - "screw me once shame on you, screw me twice shame on me" !!!

Oregon State has made a pretty good living recruiting the NQR kids from other schools and JCs. Riley will straighten the kid out. Remember QB Matt Moore xferred from UCLgAy and did great in Corvallis. Chad Johnson and TJ Houshmenzedah were JC transfers, etc. etc. The Beavs are the Oakland Raiders of the Pac-10 (in a good way). They're the second-winningest program in the Pac-10 over the past 2 seasons. Pac-10 is a weak conference, but at least OSU wins its bowls (vs. Notre Dame x2, Mizzou, Maryland, etc.) BeaverBob in LV

Oh, sweet irony...

Go Buckeyes.

September 26, 2008  01:00 AM ET

Congratulations Beavers! Great game!

September 26, 2008  01:19 AM ET
