White Sox general manager Ken Williams is discussing a new contract with club owner Jerry Reinsdorf, SI.com has learned. Williams is said to be amenable to an extension, and people familiar with the talks expect a new deal to be consummated fairly soon. In an exceptional ode to privacy, Williams' contractual situation appears to be such a secret that it remains unknown when his current contract ends, though it's not believed to be expiring after this season. The extension is thought to be for multiple years.

The TRUTH suspects Williams traded for Ken Griffey less for his bat and more that he wanted to be closer to his twin brother.

Ya, signing Griffey when they were already platooning 4 good outfielders was a stroke of genious. It happened by chance Quentin got hurt after the trade and they are using him.

Williams has done an admirable job over the past few years. Too bad other teams who need help can't have a GM like him.

If Kenny's team doesn't make the playoffs after being swept by the Twins, then they might extend him alright. Right before they draw and quarter him.

Williams seems to be an okay GM. I'd keep him around a while. The Sox won the Series in '05, and are in the hunt this year. He's made some good moves, and a few poor ones, but overall done well. What's the problem?
