The Giants are preparing to play without Plaxico Burress next Sunday against the Seahawks, but there is a chance the wide receiver might be back on the field by then, because the NFL Players Association still has not decided what it is going to do, according to a spokesman. "We have not officially filed a grievance with the NFL Management Council," said Carl Francis, the Players Association's Director of Communication. "We are in discussions with the Management Council regarding the issue related to Plaxico Burress. One of our options is to file a non-injury grievance, but we have not done so at this time." Linebacker Antonio Pierce seemed to believe that Burress was holding out hope that he would return in time to face Seattle.

I knew the Post was bad, but...somebody needs a fact checker. The Jints have a bye this week.

Good job putting your foot down Coughlin. If he plays, there's a problem. I don't know how true it is, but I read a report that he overslept...for a 10:00 A.M. meeting.

Yeah what I heard was he was out till 4AM with Ahmad Bradshaw partying.

And SafetyBlitz, when did the Post say they were playing this week?

Why is it that the wide receiver position has the highest incidence of douchebaggery in all of pro sports? Anyone know?

would assume it has something to do with the money, spotlight, and general mental makeup required to be successful at that position.

its like asking why most famous guitar players are head cases while most singers are egomaniacs. receivers are just the nfl versions of guitar players..

I think he should be allowed to play because everyone knows it's very difficult to answer a phone or pick up a phone and make a 5 minute call. Funny, if most people did what he did, they'd be fired.

How sad. I watched the USC-ORST game last night, went out afterwards, got 2 hours of sleep, and still made it to work at 6:00. All he had to do was wakeup and go to a 10:00 meeting? Or, set his alarm for around 8:00, call in sick, and go back to bed...

some just can't let go, can they ...

September 26, 2008  08:42 AM ET

I want me some me. You pucked up and pushed it to the brink and the only way to make it up to the team is to man up and say that you made a mistake. And fire that stupid Rosenhaus. He is all about money not the team. Maybe Rosenhaus will find a way to make it like T.O. and get out from NY because he already has the ring.

Wah I screwed up let me file a grievance. Unions are crap and this is a prime example. You get in trouble with your employer for something you did clearly wrong, and you file a grievance. Unions are a joke.

wow!...everyday you come with the most "off the wall" bulls--t....thats what unions are for...you crack me up man...you dont really know anything about the situation except what you've read...yet...you spew your OPINION as if you were there...just so you know..unions protect workers against unfair labor practices by employers...

As is often the case, this is a result of a cummulation of issues with Plax. The G-men are not benching one of the most important players without a pretty strong reason. As someone above said--just man up and take the punishment.....and invest in an alarm clock.

September 26, 2008  10:22 AM ET

Plaxico! You moron!

Wow you are such a ****. Such a ****. There really aren't words. Unions are crap for filing grievances when the union member is clearly in the wrong, thus discrediting the union and union member. But you're an idiot, so you wouldn't know that. If you ever had the responsibility of disciplining a union member, you would understand. But you will never be in charge of anything except your underwear drawer.

And as for spewing opinions, you are the Mt. St Helena of spewing stupid, pointless, racist, sexist, clearly uneducated statements. Have a nice day.

I hate to see a game without Burress, but if he **** up...he needs to be held accountable.
I think Domenik Hixon will get the job done...if he has the kind of game he had against Cleveland in preseason.

September 26, 2008  10:44 AM ET

I know he is down in the depth chart, but maybe the Giants should see what Mario and Moss are made of.

Isn't Manningham out for the year?

September 26, 2008  10:47 AM ET

Nevermind....Adrian Arrington is out for the year. Wrong UM guy.

September 26, 2008  10:48 AM ET

He was suspended for two weeks, this week and next...
