Cabrera rips White Sox teammates

White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen wouldn't fault Orlando Cabrera for the shortstop's latest finger-pointing. As Guillen said Thursday, that's what happens when a player ''thinks he's better than what he really is.'' What really disappointed Guillen was that Cabrera's teammates didn't hold him accountable for comments he made Tuesday on ''Boers and Bernstein'' on WSCR-AM. But as Guillen said, ''the baseball gods will get you'' -- maybe not Thursday, when Cabrera started the ball rolling for the Sox with a solo homer, but ''at some point.'' In an interview with the Sun-Times, Guillen discussed the second incident this season in which Cabrera not only made discouraging remarks about his teammates, but also took an indirect shot at Guillen. Both are serious no-nos to Guillen.

Funny seeing the white sox unravel and Ozzie leading them down that path.

September 26, 2008  07:47 AM ET

White Sox=Titanic

September 26, 2008  08:01 AM ET

I love Ocab, but thats why after helping Red Sox to World Series, they decided not to pursue him, and everybody in Boston was shocked, until someone leaked that he was a cancer in clubhouse,

September 26, 2008  08:03 AM ET

It's okay for Ozzie to say his pitcher is going to choke but it's not okay for Cabrera to say his teammates don't hustle as hard as the twins?

September 26, 2008  08:55 AM ET

I am not sure that I agree with this whole thing. Is it because the Sox didn't hustle or were they simply outplayed in their recent sweep?

September 26, 2008  09:35 AM ET

I hope that Ozzie gets fired.. he is a terrible manager, he doesn't stick up for his team, he doesn't stick up for his players, and he has thrown them under a bus more then once.

September 26, 2008  09:51 AM ET

I can only expect that kind of activity from the South-Siders.

September 26, 2008  12:15 PM ET

Loud mouth idiot, just like his manager

September 26, 2008  12:21 PM ET

A manager sets the tone for the team and Ozzie has talked trash about everyone, to include his own players, opposing players and managers, and the media. His mouth has gotten himself in quite a few jams over the years, only to be waved off by management saying "that's just Ozzie being Ozzie". Obviously, the players were watching.

September 26, 2008  12:54 PM ET

Why do players even go on the radio? Are they trying to emulate Curt Schilling? We all know where that will get them.

Yep. Its typical south side acting, bitching and moaning. Nothing new from Sox fans...not the Cubs fault they got more people on the streets when they won the division..;) then Sux did winning the world series.

There mad they play like crap, Im VERY surprised they held the top for so long with there backstabbing and blow-ups by that **** Ozzie. What a joke, I hope they slip farther and farther.

September 26, 2008  01:21 PM ET

It is the managers job to call out his players. He is the boss. O-Cab is a tool. If Ozzie does it he is using the media to incite his team. With that said - the problem is that he even has to do it at this point in the season. In 2005 every member of that team was on the same page. They would have stood in front of trains for each other. As far as cub fans commenting on this - SHUT UP. When your team has won ANYTHING then you can speak. Otherwise please just wallow in your 100 year losing streak and shut the heck up.

good point.

Cabrera was pretty good in Boston. He was always dancing and hand-slapping, and all that stuff. He got along real good with Manny and Pedro, and a few others. They always showed shots off him clowning around, building morale in the dugout. If he's being an idiot now, maybe he has good reason.

Arrogant memo to Riggs:

The White Sox have won some nice bling while the Dullass Cowpies haven't won a playoff game in a decade and a third. Such poor results despite chasing the best coaches and engaging in every type of payroll and rule manipulation. Oh, yea, and you should mention moaning and personality problems among White Sox players when you have TO and Pacman suiting up every week. All players go through ups and downs. Winning a playoff game would be nice. Wouldn't it?

Humble memo to Cubs and Twins fans:

Nobody expected the CWS to get this far. They are not perfect people and I could probably tell you dirt about them since I follow the team and even spend money at the park. I am not even going to mention the struggles of your teams. I would love to see your fave teams win although I am pulling for the White Sox this year.

And to all -- watch out for Karma. Enjoying the failures, suffering or faults of others often comes home in a very ugly form. And stays for a long time.

September 26, 2008  05:26 PM ET

Cabrera talks like this because he knows he won't be back next year. The White Sox basically rented him this year, and from what I've seen at least they rented him and didn't buy him. Alexei Ramirez plays with way more heart and hits way better that Orlando. OC you finally came through with a hit and you start running your mouth. Start running your way out of town.

I know he was good in Boston and yes he drank the kool aid but there was internal problems with teammates thats why then never even made an attempt to keep him, then they went and got Renteria, and that was a mess, then sighned Lugo to a crazy contract, don't you think if their was no problems with Ocab the Red Sox would have kept him instead of what they have benn going through to try to get a SS

Are you talking about Ozzie not getting fired for his often racist comments?
