Reds manager Dusty Baker took the unusual step of bringing up a rumor Wednesday to deny it. There's been a persistent rumor floating around the Reds that Baker's 28-year-old daughter, Natosha, is dating and/or engaged to outfielder Corey Patterson. Baker finally had enough when players on the Astros asked him about it. There's no truth to it, Baker said. Natosha is not dating Patterson. "She hasn't even been to Cincinnati," Baker said. "This is so far out of line. It's hurtful to my wife and daughter. How can people stoop that low? I don't know who started it. But I've been hearing from fans, players, announcers."

Dearest Dusty:

Do you know what a surefire way to quash these rumors would be? To have a competitive team. Isn't it funny how the lizard's family always gets in the way? Remember the incident when he was with the Giants when his kid was the batboy and almost got creamed at homeplate?

the only way that the REDS get in the news... DUSTY leaked it himself...

Why didn't Corey Patterson deny the rumors?

She HASN'T been to Cinci. Patterson only taps Natosha in hotel rooms during road trips. It's her thing...

well if baker's daughter isn't dating patterson then patterson must be giving dusty reach arounds to still have an mlb job in the reds outfield

So he is either a stupid father or stupid manager... no, wait - he's both! Why else would patterson play in the 3rd most games of any reds player with a batting avg below .200

This wouldn't be surprising......Baker seems to have a man-crush on Patterson

I have to agree that there is some sort of man-crush between patterson and baker for him to still have a job. Even though the Reds are thin on outfielders at AAA, it was probable that they would be able to hit for a higher average, run the bases (and not get picked off 1st base over and over), and field his position (not running forward, then having to turn around and chase a fly ball).
