Ailing Favre's streak to end?

Brett Favre was listed as questionable Friday for the New York Jets' game against Arizona with a sore left ankle, but is expected to start against the Cardinals. The 38-year-old quarterback twisted his left ankle Monday night in New York's loss at San Diego. His ankle was tightly wrapped, but he appeared hardly hobbled during the half-hour of practice the media were allowed to watch Friday. "I felt pretty comfortable a few days ago,'' coach Eric Mangini said of Favre's progress. "He hasn't missed many games in the last however many years.'' Actually, Favre has started 256 consecutive regular-season games, an NFL record for quarterbacks, and neither he nor Mangini has seemed concerned the streak is in jeopardy.

Oh good,a Brett Favre story.

September 27, 2008  09:31 AM ET

HE will play.....no end to streak.....says the great Karnack

September 27, 2008  09:45 AM ET

He's going to play, this whole story is a sham.

September 27, 2008  09:45 AM ET

A couple more games like Monday night and Bratt Favre will wish he would've stayed retired! A couple more poundings like that and he will be making the announcement he's retiring for good this time ...... again!

September 27, 2008  09:47 AM ET

Or is this all a ruse to try a different starting QB in Jets land?

September 27, 2008  10:00 AM ET

I doubt he'll break the streak.

September 27, 2008  10:05 AM ET

He'll play.

September 27, 2008  10:09 AM ET

favre cares enough about his stats/streak, to play at least 1 snap per game even if he had a broken arm.

If the jets don't start protecting favre better than they have, it's only a matter of time before his streak comes to an end.

Their's no doubt that he now regrets comming back, Mangina is a terrible head coach.

If only he passed on the jets comeback option, only to get a call from the pats after week one.
belicheat and the cheatriots would have give him a better chance to succeed.

It now seems like miami will finish with a better record than the big spender jets.

cheatriots

The above word is funny which doesn't suk.
It is also an accurate word so still not suking.

'ailing' ???

I mean come on- he sprained his ankle.
it's not like he ruptured his spleen

September 27, 2008  12:10 PM ET

Now that Bratt Favre's found out what it's like to play for a bad coach on a bad team and, now that he knows what it feels like to lose on a regular basis, he will retire soon.

September 27, 2008  12:18 PM ET

Pointless year for Favre...nothing but brining his career stats down.

The guy only has the most tds cause he played longer than anyone else..

September 27, 2008  12:49 PM ET

im sick of these brett favre stories he craves attention and wants everybody around him, he dont care about wat team he plays for he shoulde have stayed retired

September 27, 2008  12:51 PM ET

Don't let anything like an injury stop a playing streak. Just bring him out and he'll hand it off and then get taken out with streak intact. We all know what most important, and its all about Favre and not a football game.

September 27, 2008  12:52 PM ET

He'll play..
