Why Celtics may need to trade
The Celtics have 16 players on their training camp roster and no more will be added, general manager Danny Ainge said. Sam Cassell and newcomer Darius Miles do not have guaranteed contracts. Even so, the Celtics might waive another player with a low contract or make a trade to accommodate both Cassell and Miles (the roster limit is 15).

Celtics got lucky last year because they was the worst team ever in a playoff format to be crowned champions. The lost 10 games in their run plus a pathetic 3-9 road mark. The Celtics is a one-year wonder that took advantage of a hurt Billups against Detroit and no Andrew Bynum against the LAKERS. The Celtics will be knocked out of the second round of the playoffs this year.

I would keep Tony Allen and trade or waive "Big Baby" Davis. The Celtics aren't going to have the patience to wait for this young man to contribute.

The Boston Celtics have been the best Team in their first year together since a very long Time, and they will even get a lot better than they have been.and neither Detroit nor LA was any match for them. No Billups or Bynum (HAHAHA!!!) would make up for a 30 Point defeat in a decisive Game.

Stop crying the Lakers got killed, it wasnt even close and they were LUCKY to win 2 games in that series....... as for the Pistons theyre tough but not championship-level their window closed in 2006 and especially when larry Brown and Big Ben left.
Celtics go for a repeat this year I bet.

Im sorry celtics fans, the lakers lost that series when they blew that 24 point lead in game 4. If LA would have won that game they would have beaten the Celtics. That series was very close until that game 6. Like I said the Celtics had gotten some lucky breaks last year. This year the Eastern conference is much tougher because the Sixers are improved, Miami will be improved, Detroit will be tough, Toronto will be competitve, plus Orlando will be a rising power in the East. Any way the Lakers will win this year championship because of Andrew Bynum and they knew they let last year title slip away from blowing that big lead on Game 4. The Celtics is one and done.

Do they really need Sam Cassell? They have a good starting PG in Rondo, House re-signed with the team, i don't think Sam is needed. The Celtics will have a tough time to re-peat this year. I won't count them out since they are the defending champion, but with the East getting stronger from last year, it'll be harder task.

I did get rid of BOTH cassell and Patrick o'bryant
Waiving Tony Allen or Big Baby is foolishness, they were the ones that sparked some energy off the becnh , at times. In any case, I don't see a repeat for celts just for the fact that they let Posey walk. $$$ apart, pretty dumb move. Almost cocky!!! I rooted for celts last year, I'm rooting for Hornets this year.

cassell & miles are non-guaranteed.......
why the hell do they need either?
an old man who is WAY past his prime
& a knucklehead who will NEVER regain his athleticism
which was the only thing he had.

Cassell couldn't guard a fishbowl and I cringe every time I see him try to move. His mummy-esque maneuvers with the ball signal a man who cannot play anymore.
It seems as if his leg bones have been surgically replaced with pvc pipe by that doctor in New York City who used to cut up cadavers and sell the tainted body parts.

The Celtics need to choose wisely, because they have a lot at stake this year in trying to defend the ultimate NBA throne.
On the other hand, since they retain their core 3 players (Pierce, Garnett, and Allen), they can rationalize the trade of any of the marginal role players.
I do think that they made a critical error in letting Posey go, though. Even though he's not one of the "Big 3", he made a big difference in their victories.

Got to love these Celtics fans.they haven't won a championship like in 20 years and talking smack. Well, enjoy this title because it will be another 20 or 30 years before they win another.

You're very wise, Jay L, and dead on right. Posey was the biggest and most important of the non-Big 3 role players. They are gonna miss him.

I'm sorry, did I miss the great Andrew Bynum breakout season? I love how the Laker fans keep crying that since Bynum was out, that was the cause of being blownout by 38 in game 6, lose a record lead in game 4 and looking totally outclassed.
Maybe the Celtics were just better than everyone else? Isn't that who usually wins the championship and was 6 games better than the next team in the regular season standings? Laker fans, give it up, you lost, the Celtics were better and will be better next year too.
