Cardinals to stick with Warner

Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner committed six turnovers Sunday, including four in the first half, but coach Ken Whisenhunt never considered bringing in backup Matt Leinart. Whisenhunt thought Warner's problems stemmed mostly from poor protection. "I didn't think we did the job offensively, especially in protection, in the first half, so that's the reason we stayed with Kurt," the coach said. Whisenhunt said he plans to stick with Warner as the Cardinals return home for their next two games, against Buffalo and Dallas.

Do they really have a option? Then again why shouldnt they use him?

Why some franchises will never get better on the next edition of "Aging and Declining QBs." This guy is NOT the future of the team so why not get a definitive answer on Leinhart this year so you know where to go in the draft next year.

not fun to be Leinhart this morning. shows how little his coach thinks of Leinhart.

That was one of the worst QB performances I've ever seen. Yeah he was 40/57 for almost 500 yards but 3 INTs and 4 fumbles? I wonder how many bottles of ketchup he dropped while bagging groceries back in the day.

Hooah,,,,,nice of you to admit it. I took the Cowboys giving up
11 points as thought Dallas was the team to beat.
Now you'll have TO running his mouth. He got 30% of the plays
his way, but that's not enough he says..........

September 29, 2008  08:47 AM ET

That was a crappy perfomance both offensively and defensively by the Cards.. Just pitiful.. way to run up the score Mangenious.

September 29, 2008  09:38 AM ET

I don't think Warner had anything to do with the Cards D giving up 6 TD tosses.

Hail to the Redskins!!!

Thats 2 more loses for Warner maybe by then Leinart will start to look a little more startable.

September 29, 2008  10:33 AM ET

The Cardinals will beat Buffalo.....

September 29, 2008  10:35 AM ET

warner had one bad game, if they would have replaced him with Matty, it would have gotten even worse... at least warner came back and gave his team a chance, and he will be respected for that..

September 29, 2008  11:16 AM ET

NYY is right.....even with the turnovers, Kurt kept competing and gave them a chance.

Bold statement. I disagree.

If Leinhart can't even get through a preseason game with 2nd stringers then how the hell can he start over warner?

"Mangenious"........I love it. This article's title should have read "Cardinals Stink with Warner", neither option is an option if you know what I mean.

September 29, 2008  02:01 PM ET

A while back I was hearing a lot about Warner being the man..... I stated that this would be true until Warner either (A) got injured or (B) became a turnover machine...... One or both were inevitable..... Leinert will be back in there at some point ..... you just cannot turn the ball over like this and win...... yeah, you might throw a couple of picks if the protection breaks down, but SIX TURNOVERS!!!

LMAO!! Good. One!

Matt Leinart is on the way outta there. Ken doesn't believe in him and remember, it was Dennis Green who drafted Matt as "the future". Not Ken. Could Kansas City be giving Arizona a call?

September 29, 2008  02:06 PM ET

Maybe if they actually had a run game, he wouldn't be throwing 57 passes! My $ was on Favre and the Jets..so I'm smiling <lol>

Yeah...I dont understand your logic or better yet why you think this way. Dont be fooled by the Redskins icon. I am also a loyal Buffalo Bills fan. So the Arizona Cardinals, who havent been good since the Reagan era, who just lost..no have been DEMOLISHED by the then 1-2 Jets(now 2-2) will beat the Buffalo Bills? Who btw are 4-0?
