Joba's shoulder under concern

For the second time inside of two months, Joba Chamberlain experienced discomfort in his valuable right shoulder Sunday at Fenway Park. According to several people, Chamberlain said the shoulder was tight after exiting the first game of the doubleheader against the Red Sox when he walked Jason Bay and gave up a ground-rule double to Mark Kotsay in the eighth inning. The same people said Chamberlain didn't appear too concerned about it. However, Chamberlain is the face of the Yankees' pitching future and the slightest physical problem with him is cause for concern. Especially with the Yankees targeting starting pitching as the No. 1 area they have to upgrade this winter.

Ummmmm, what does this headline mean?

September 30, 2008  07:31 AM ET

uhhhhhhhh ohhhhhhhhh

September 30, 2008  07:55 AM ET

it means thats why he pitched poorly in his outing I guess.

It's true, I listened to the game on the radio, his fastball was 91 and his slider was 83, he's a hurting puppy.

If he's the face of the Yankees' pitching future, the Yankees' pitching future needs to go on Nutrisystem in the offseason ...

September 30, 2008  08:37 AM ET

Maybe he should go see a witch doctor and have that giant head of his shrunken, that should relieve the pressure on his shoulders.

September 30, 2008  09:24 AM ET

he is young, he needs some time off and he will be fine. spring training is 5 months alway and i am sure he will be ready for any role he is put in.. hopefully in the bullpen.

Joba is clearly a BIG part of our future......
that being said- he is IRRELEVANT for what we do in the off-season

What does it have to do with getting more startig & relief itching help?
We need to get as many QUALITY & GUTTY players in as we can
Don't even count on him - he is a BONUS

Maybe if he didn't FIST PUMP so much he could have pitched more:) FIST PUMPing is not for the weak, maybe he should try a JOBA JAB??

Maybe he could use his non pitching arm to FIST PUMP. That way his right arm doesn't take all the wear and tear from both pitching and FIST PUMPING.

How about just a simple pointing of the finger!!That'll get Youk's butt out to the mound!!!!

I dunno becca last time someone pointed at someone it was Pedro and he pointed at Posada and before you knew it benches emptied and we had a brawl break out at Fenway. Then again baseball fights are fun to watch so maybe we should start finger pointing. Unless Johnny Gomes is playing because he is on the Rays for the sole purpose of beating up guys (see Duncan, Crisp).

A couplea Ras-hops should help him shake it off.

Yeah, that worked so well for Pedro...
And bring on Youk,
How many times does he get thrown. tight and inside next year, wanna bet?

Youk hangs over the plate and then gets offended when a pitcher throws one tight and inside. Jeter is notorious for it too but you never see him rush the mound or try to start something with a pitcher. So either get off the plate or face the music.
