Dodgers, Mets, Yankees eyeing Sabathia?
It has been known for months that the Yanks will doggedly pursue CC Sabathia. But why shouldn't the Mets see the large lefty as a solution to so many problems? That Sabathia made his final three starts on short rest means he fully invested his body into a Brewers team he knows will not invest financially in him. Just to double-check that Sabathia was simply not sprucing his free-agent credentials, I contacted two executives who have long associations with Sabathia. Both lauded his character. One said via e-mail: "He's a great teammate and competitor. There are not many better." Thus, this is not a Manny Ramirez thing, where the Dodgers fear the dreadlocked one is on his best behavior now and will regress once he secures a multi-year contract.Several rival executives say the Dodgers are worried enough about that potential that they might not re-sign him, but will appease angry fans by making a substantial push for Sabathia. All things being equal, Sabathia wants to return home to California and stay in the NL where he can hit. The Mets cannot offer the Pacific Ocean. But they can give him a bat, and reams of cash.

If you think he's fat now, wait til he gets that monster contract. 20 mil per will buy a lot of twinkies.

God it is so obnoxious that the same 4 or 5 teams are the only ones ever mentioned when it comes to being able to lad these big names.

The Mets should sign Sabbathia, any kind of pitching would help that wreched team.

If he's smart, he won't go to the Mets unless he wants to pitch his tail off only to watch his team get knocked out of the playoffs in Game 167 of the regular season.

Morning everyone. Becca nice new avatar btw. And FN could basically write [insert team here] eyeing Sabathia and it would be the truth.

Santana and CC with Pelfry as a 3rd starter would probably prevent that from happening again. Personally the Mets can't choke enough for my taste but Santana and CC were both good down the stretch and can keep that atrocious bull pen off the field.
He could stand to pitch a bit of that tail off.

Yes the guy is hefty but so was David Wells and from where I sit this is what the Yanks have been missing for years: a dominant staff ace. The guy leads both leagues this year in complete games and has made his last 3 starts all on 3 days rest which I give big props to the Brewers manager for doing because finally someone is bucking the pitch count and inning count trend and letting their best pitcher just throw and throw often. (Ozzie Guillen also should be commended for going to an old school 4 man rotation with everyone pitching on 3 days rest). The Yanks need someone like CC to anchor their rotation. Wang and Andy and Moose and Joba are good right now but you need a guy who when you send out there you just feel we are going to win today.
