Alabama, South Carolina and Vanderbilt are hot on the trail of Heritage defensive end Justin Jones, who backed out of his commitment to Kentucky last week. Jones will now focus on scholarship offers from East Carolina and South Carolina. And Alabama and Vanderbilt are showing strong interest. He has received an invitation to visit Tuscaloosa on Saturday.

Go to Vandy better oppurtunity to start.

October 1, 2008  10:07 AM ET

It's not all about starting. Do you wanna start or do you want to help contribute to a NC? He may have a better chance of starting at those other schools but if he wants to win a NC (which is the primary goal of playing college football in the 1st place right?), go to BAMA!

October 1, 2008  10:52 AM ET

Dude BAMA hasnt won a NC since the 20's. Credit Saban BAMA is having a good year, but dont start talking about the NC when its the 4th week. Now you could say something like he has more of a chance to likely win a NC at BAMA, but not just go out to say help contribute. Geaux to LSU LES is MORE.

lol, are you forgetting about the Bear Bryant era? Bama has improved because of one person, Nick Saban. LSU should also never forget what he did for that program too.

October 1, 2008  11:44 AM ET

As for Justin Jones, if you're that good then go to the program that will play you and get you the most coverage. What's the use in playing for Alabama if you're a backup, go to East Carolina and be a star, the scouts WILL find you!!!

Oh, the Bammers just can't stand themselves, can they? They beat Georgia with a great deal of help from the Bulldogs (look at the second half stats) and an overconfident and everrated Clemson team they're ready to claim the national championship. IF they win the SEC west, they have to beat Georgia again in Atlanta. I can assure you Mark Richt won't let that happen. But truthfully, I don't see Bama beating LSU.

October 1, 2008  12:28 PM ET

Just remember that the top SEC teams cheat to get the best one, so today you think you have a chance to play in the big game and then next week the NCAA is knocking on your door. If you what to cheat to win then go to the SEC, but if you what to win and do it the right way then go to Penn State. We have the best student section and we NEVER boo our players.

Who said I havn't Superman, who said i havn't?

October 1, 2008  01:34 PM ET

Come on people....I'm gettin so sick of the Bama/Saban haters. No matter who Bama beats, someone is always trying to come up with a lame excuse of why they won.

Pathfinder: What in the $@#% are you talking about? Bama beat GA with "A great deal of help from the Bulldogs". Please explain that one.

araujo03: I guess you are saying that Penn State is going to play for the NC? You are right though, all the SEC teams cheat. LoL Man...you got it all figured out and I'm sure all the top recruits will be headed to Penn State. LOOK FOR PENN STATE TO HAVE THE TOP RECRUITING CLASS IN 09!!!!

Ok, obvious Auburn fan. All I'm going to say is that LSU struggled to win against a team that narrowly escaped Mississippi State, and should have lost to a lowly Tennessee team. Auburn beat that team with a lot of help from the VOLS. And everyone can tell you are watching Bama with your eyes closed because you know they are back and don???t want to admit it. And, I'll even admit that you got screwed out of a NC. But, that is in the past now. HIGH TIDE IN ALABAMA AGAIN!!!

October 1, 2008  02:20 PM ET

Oh the hate! Oh well. Next up................Kentucky!

October 1, 2008  02:20 PM ET

Alabama won a NC in 1992, don't talk unless you know EXACTLY what you are talking about!

October 1, 2008  02:40 PM ET

Alabama won a title back in the 90's so I don't know what that guy was talking about with that 20's stuff.

Anyway, this kid de-committed from Kentucky where he could have played early, so I am guessing that winning means more than playing to him so Bama would look good here.

October 1, 2008  03:37 PM ET

The wins keep piling up for BAMA and so does the haters. Clemson was supposed to run all over us with "thunder' and "lightning" but BAMA turned them to fizzle and drizzle. When we pounded them, all of a sudden they're overrated. Georgia was supposed to cream us with the blackout and "Kno-Show" was supposed to run for 100+ yards. Now all of a sudden, they're overrated or "helped" us win the game. That justs let me know that we having success cause with success comes hating. Now after beating the snot outta Clemson&GA, now LSU is going to beat us but Pathfinder, i'll be looking for your next set of excuses after we beat LSU in LSU. And it's not like you have room to talk.....look at the "dead spread" that the barners are running. I can't wait to see Vandy pound Auburn on Saturday with that "dead spread" offense that put up an impressive 3-2 win over MSU (LMAO!)

October 1, 2008  03:51 PM ET

and the astronomical number of 14 against a headless UT. LSU and Auburn both are not as good as their fans think they are. LSU will find out at the swamp. Don't look for Tebow to be taking it easy in that game. The Vandy game this weekend will be very interesting. Go DORES!

October 1, 2008  04:16 PM ET

See, I knew Nick Satan had horns

October 1, 2008  04:32 PM ET

They'll lose, real soon...

October 1, 2008  04:42 PM ET

what like USC?

October 1, 2008  04:59 PM ET

If everyone is going to bring up the past and winning is important then maybe it would be that Alabama has the most National Championships of any other Division 1A football team and that is based on the ones that the University recognizes and not those that the NCAA recognizes because of split decisions etc...

So maybe that is the reason for the jealousy. We may have been 16 years without one but we still hold the record.

Inferiority complexes are a terrible thing to have.

But to all of those LSU & Auburn fans who like down-rating the Tide and talk about how they can't wait to beat them: your time to find out will come soon enough. Patience.

Although, as a wise man once said: Be very careful of what you wish for, for you will surely get it.
