Troubled Mets relief pitcher Ambiorix Burgos struck and killed two women in a hit-and-run accident in the Dominican Republic, cops told a local paper. Burgos, 24, who missed the entire season with an elbow injury, was driving a 2009 Hummer that hit the two women Tuesday night near his north coast hometown of Nagua. The hit-and-run was not his first brush with the law. Just last month, Burgos was arrested on charges of manhandling his girlfriend in a Queens hotel. The 6-foot-3, 244-pound hurler allegedly punched, bit and slapped 26-year-old Maria Lopez in a Holiday Inn room on Sept. 8, cops said.

I can't stand men who beat on women....LOCK HIM UP!!!!

This has nothing to do with sports. Why is this here?

In most hit and run cases, the vehicles are hard to trace. But, in this guess I'm thinking finding a 2009 Hummer in Nagua was not so difficult?

...As if the Mets bullpen wasn't bad enough.

Also, why's he staying at the Holiday Inn and who bites during a fight??

When questioned about whether or not he committed the crimes he is accused of, Burgos replied,"I am not innocent of these charges, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night"

Because its a relief pitcher from New York. If this was a Kansas City Royals middle reliever, you or I would never even hear of it. EVERYTHING is a story with New York teams. The whole A-Rod/Madonna thing had ZERO to do with MLB or sports, but yet it was plastered all over sports websites. So ANYTIME ANYTHING happens to a member of a New York franchise (especially the Yankees, Mets, and Knicks), as they say START SPREADING THE NEWS!

You have Redd Foxx as your profile picture...he's gonna get out of his grave just to come slap you because that wasn't even close to being funny.

I'm guessing your not working for the Greater NY Area Chamber of Commerce?

LMAO............Since he can't pitch, ( see the Mets crapppy bullpen) maybe he is starting a new career in battering women. What a loser, rot in hell!

The real outrage here is that an awful pitcher such as this guy can afford a Hummer.

Yeah, I think Urbina is Venezuelan ... I bet those jails aren't any country club either. Why can't these fools behave???

Urbina simply lit some poor people on fire. That's barely a crime there.

And Truth,
We're suppossed to call it the "developing" world not the 3rd world. What exactly they're developing besides poverty, pestilence and baseball players I cannot tell you.

Damn he's a one man crime wave. Domestic abuse, and vehicular manslaughter. What is this fool going to do next?

The owner of the company I work for is quite the tree hugger so I have to stay up to date on these PC terms. You can actually walk into my store and buy a water buffalo for a villiage in the "developing world" or buy an eye operation for a blind child in a poor area.
Of course you need to step over our own homeless on the way from the subway but.....
