Fielder: 'I'm garbage'

Prince Fielder doesn't make excuses. After another hitless performance in Game 2 of the NLDS Thursday night left him 0 for 7 in the series, this is what he had to say: "Right now I'm just kind of garbage but hopefully I can make it up." Well, Fielder's not the only guy in the trash bin. The Brewers hit .115 as a team and scored three runs in losing the first two games to Philly, putting them in must-win situations for the rest of the series. Mike Cameron is 0 for 7. Jason Kendall is 0 for 6. Corey Hart is 1 for 7. J.J. Hardy is 1 for 6. Craig Counsell is 1 for 6.

Glad to see someone not giving the generic answers
& showing that he CARES about playing ball

It has been a brutal 2 games with some key miscues but I'm still proud of the Brewers.
They found a way to win 7 of the last 9 games (something like that) and ended the 26 year playoff drought. Besides...it's not over yet and in 1982 they came back from a 2-0 deficit.

Go Brewers!!!

YOu are not garbage right now Prince, the TEAM is playin like garbage!!!

October 3, 2008  09:14 AM ET

Howard, Utley, and Burrell are a combined 1 for 17, this is the time of year when some of the little guys have to step up, and Victorino did that big time for the Phils last night. Who woulda thought that not only would Myers outpitch CC, he'd grind him up in two at bats as well.....Myers doesn't work that ten pitch walk, Shane-O doesn't get to the plate with the sacks full. Moyers closes it out in Beer-town!

October 3, 2008  09:15 AM ET

Ryan Howard isn't hiting either, but the other Phils are picking him up.

Besides, You kept the Mets out of the playoffs! You've already accomplished a lot.

AWESOME. i love when guys admit when they suck, especially when they actually have the skills but are just slumping. just take a deep breath, down a jelly donut...and get your big2ss out there and hit a homerun dude.

Yes, that is me!......Is that the Brewers that the Phillies are punding into the ground, or did the Mets players steal the Brewers uniforms and show up at Citizens Bank Park. The Brewers look overmatched............

The mets hitters and their god-awful, sheet bullpen kept them out of the playoffs. Not as bad a choke as last year, although it was close!

Go slap Parra around some more. It worked last time.

October 3, 2008  09:48 AM ET

October 3, 2008  09:50 AM ET

things are shaping up for the phillies to make a serious run I love it

October 3, 2008  09:53 AM ET

This is Phillies Brewers NY Mess, son't rest on your laurels...

October 3, 2008  09:53 AM ET

Moyer is going to abuse that free swinging lineup. Dave Bush is going to get shelled. I'd like to see the Cubs win a game or two and tire each other out while we sit and rest our arms. I love Fall baseball.

Fielder: 'I'm garbage' and I am fat and out of shape, as this season gets longer my bat speed has slowed drastically, please, give me a salad.
