Moreno promises to play against Vols

Knowshon Moreno was unequivocal Thursday: He'll play against Tennessee next Saturday, and his injured right elbow won't affect his game. "No worries," the Georgia tailback said. The week began with some concern in the Georgia camp that Moreno, who suffered a chipped elbow bone against Alabama last week, might be questionable for Tennessee. By Tuesday's practice, Moreno appeared on track to play. And after Thursday's practice, he did his best to end any doubt.

A chipped bone in his elbow? Put an elbow pad over it and let him run.

October 3, 2008  09:34 AM ET

Can't get no highlights if you're on the sidelines!

Guess Knowshow didn't like his highlights from last weekend.

October 3, 2008  10:01 AM ET

Agreed with Devo. Put a pad on and run the rock on the Vols.

October 3, 2008  01:26 PM ET

That's true, Spaceman. You can't not get no highlights none! Not never on no sideline.

October 3, 2008  02:23 PM ET

Well it's the least he can do, seeing as how he didn't play in the bama game last week. HAHA

October 3, 2008  02:54 PM ET

Hey Xtremeness. Dawgs will kick your **** in the SEC Championship if you can there. We will be waiting.

October 3, 2008  02:56 PM ET

Pretty sad that you have to count on the refs to help you out there in the first half. I guess you are going to try and stick with Alabama really didn't committ any penalties in the first half and onlt 2 for 9 yards all together right. The reverse fumble call on the first drive was a huge momentum shift. If Georgia gets that like they should have it would have been a completely different game.

October 3, 2008  03:01 PM ET

I think Moreno is a hot and cold back. Usually he lights up the stats in one game and then he's a dead fish in another. If Moreno doesn't get the yards for whatever reason (whether elbow or not), then put in Caleb King or Richard Samuel. Do whatever gets the job done.

October 3, 2008  03:03 PM ET

Speaking as a Georgia fan, I've got this sick feeling in the pit of my stomach when I think about this game. I don't know why, but remember you heard it here first.

October 3, 2008  03:11 PM ET

Is drowe30 serious? Yes, if you don't get called on penalties it help, but UGA always gets penalties and they still win. Last weekl they just were not good enough. They would play the same in Atlanta and lose again- if they can make it that far.

October 3, 2008  03:11 PM ET

Moreno is by far the best back in the country. He is as consistent as they come. I don't know what games you have been watching for the last 2 years. Look at the stats How 'bout' em.

October 3, 2008  03:15 PM ET

Marty Regal Momentum in sports is a huge thing. If you watched the game how many good plays got taken away from Georgia in the first half? Did you see the players running off the field when they got that ball. They were PUMPED. If they get to keep the ball there it is a totally different game. They were at home and Alabama gets no penalties. That is ridiculous. Someone wanted Alabama to win this game. Call Vegas and see if any large bets were laid down on Bama last week.

October 3, 2008  03:17 PM ET

Yet again in the fourth quarter when Georgia was driving and convert on 4th and 18 to get inside 20 and could have cut lead to 7 with 10-11 minutes to play there was a "phantom" holding call on the O-line. Did you see it? Me neither

October 3, 2008  03:17 PM ET

xxtreme was only saying that Moreno did not have a particularly amazing game last week. He should have been more sensitive about a sore subject. I apologize for him. Moreno is great he will win two heisman's.

October 3, 2008  03:20 PM ET

well someone allowed a blocking in the back on that kick return, but it doesn't matter. If there was a penalty conspiracy against UGA it would have to extend to every game they played this season. That sounds insane.

October 3, 2008  03:21 PM ET

True, if your team has a reputation for ignoring the rules, refs do not like you. That is different than a conspiracy.

October 3, 2008  03:36 PM ET

Look back at their televised games. Half of their penalties against South Carolina and Arizona St were terrible calls. It is ridiculous. That was no block in the back. The guy turned his back to him when he saw he couldn't get the ball carrier. Either way there were a half a dozen terrible calls in that game all going against Georgia. Alabama gets zero penalties in the whole first half on the road in the SEC. I know they are not that disciplined becasue they are a very young team. It was as if the refs swallowed the whistle when it came to calling a penalty on Alabama. Give me a break. Let them play ball and Alabama goes back home with their tails between their legs.

October 3, 2008  03:51 PM ET

Wait, so you are saying that there is a broad, ongoing, insidious, conspiracy among the refs of the Pac-10 and the SEC with an anonymous third party to undermine UGA's football program. You are also saying that it is impossible that Bama is disciplined, as young as they are, and that the refs were just not blowing the whistle. That is delusional paranoia. UGA could not have won that game unless the refs got under coverage and caught a pass for you.

October 3, 2008  03:52 PM ET

The media loves to cite/report on only the first half of the game saying AL blew out GA and AL is the current best team in the land. Then they all jump on the same bandwagon. However, looking at all 4 quarters of the game, AL only had 10 more total offensive yds and 3 more first downs. They won by 11 and starters played the whole game. Doesn't sound like a blowout to me. I agree with the drowe30, take away a questionable penalty or two and a freak interception and GA wins the game. Would make a great SEC Champ re-match.

Drowe3, you must not have been watching the Georgia Tech or Tennessee games from last season. Thomas Brown and Knowshon Moreno each had the same number of carries in the GT game, and Brown out rushed Knowshon by 100 yards. Knowshon also had 13 carries for 30 yards against Tennesse also.

I love Knowshon, and I love his energy. Some games he's not the guy, but most games he is.
